Fremantle by 17 pts

Fremantle swarmed over Sydney last weekend and I can't see it being any different against the Hawks. Even with their superior foot-skills, I can see the game being won by the Dockers scoring from pressure induced turnovers by the Hawks.

Norm Smith - Nathan Fyfe

I feel a Draw in the waters. Freo to win the return next week

Heart says Freo, head says Hawks

I really think Ross Lyons coaching can win this one.

2 top sides going hammer & tongs, should be a cracker.

I think 'Clarko' has a few little tricks up his sleeve. Watch how their midfield sets up on Saturday, it will surprise a few but not if you think it through.

You would think Hawks, but can their foot skills match Freo pressure, would love an upset, Pav for Norm Smith, and i think there will be the mother of all brawls, on a par with anything Kickett was involved in.

Freo 18pts

Freo, cause I f***ing hate Hawthorn, and all their a**hole supporters.

I'm same, but unfortunately Hawthorn have the right group of players, at the right age and with the prerequisite number of disappointments behind them to spur them on. They have under performed over the past years. Now is their time

Freo time is yet to come

freo. Do it for Pav!

I feel the same about Freo Supporters LOL

The place is infested by them

So I call them the purple plague

Did not help that their supports were also thrashing Melbourne this week.

Also it does sadden my that my father was a passionate Freo member but past away four years ago so will not see them play let alone win a GF.

Go the Hawks!

I'm going for Freo.

Firstly because I think they will choke Hawthorn and Hawthorn will struggle under that sort of pressure

Secondly because Hawthorn is an a$$ehole football club, with a$$ehole supporters, and they are already arrogant enough as it is.

Freo for 1st flag and Fyfe for Norm Smith.

Freo by 25

weather looks like being [censored] which suits Freo imo, Hawks rely on fast movement and great skills.

Freo's structure is amazing and they have already beaten Sydney and Geelong at Geelong this finals series, they will have no fear of Hawthorn

Hawthorn seem to get nervous or something in big finals, which is understandable but if they don't bring their A game they will get blown away by the in form dockers

Aaron Sandilands for the Norm Smith, feel he will dominate the ruck to such an extent, Fyfe and Mundy getting first hands on the ball and getting it down to a Fresh Pavlich could be the difference in the game.

Freo by 11.

Low scoring with Freo getting over the line when my man Ballantyne slots through the sealer in the last minute. I can see him running into an open goal and kicking a spiral at the Hawthorn members ala our great Jacko at the pies cheer squad back in the day.

Hawthorns premiership was last week against the cats. They think its in the bag.

And I normally despise overly defensive football but I thought that first half against Sydney last week was simply amazing by the purple. Unbelievable pressure!

And I am a bit of a sicko and love watching Crowley play, unless its against the dees. Would love to see him mop the floor with Mitchell or Hodge.

Hoping for Freo.

For a second I was wishing I barracked for Freo and lived in Perth, that bus ride across the country would have been mighty fun, with a few too many sherberts along the way...

Dockers by 30 points

Norm Smith to Pav

Several players wont be playing round 1 2014

Freo by 5 points, goal after the siren.

Can someone tell me how I find one of my old posts where I mentioned earlier this year that Fremantle would win the flag? I just want to see what date it was that I made that call, and find the poster/s that questioned my judgement.

For the purpose of this thread, I haven't changed my view.

Hawks by 13. I want Freo to win and will be barracking very hard for them in from of the tele. But the Hawks will win because:

1. Freo's impressive wins over the past 2 weeks have come on very narrow grounds, which has suited their choking, manic press very well. The MCG is very wide, almost a circle, and this means the defensive press gaps are wider and Freo have to run more to fill these spaces. Hawks kicking skills will find a way through these gaps.

2. One of Roughhead, Franklin or Gunston will kick 4-5 goals. I can't see Freo's defence successfully covering all three.

3. They will attack Crowley and give him the worst 2 hours of his life. I wouldn't be surprised if they "take him out", or hassle him so much he is subbed off. Mitchell could end up with 30+ possessions.

David Mundy for the Norm Smith.

I agree with all that......It will be very hard for Freo to exert that kind of pressure two weeks in a row and this time on the MCG....A fully fit Hawthorn .....The game will be tight in the first half but after half time the Hawks will explode and run away with this game......Hawks by 40 to 50 points....

I have always had a soft spot for Freo ever since my mate from school was drafted and played his whole career there....

Hawks well my feelings for them can go back to the first Grand final I went to (1988) and we all know what happened then.

I hope Freo win in a close match so the hawks supporters hearts get ripped out for a second year in a row.

I also hope that during the game that

Crowley gets hit so hard (fairly) that his nose gets relocated to the back of his head just like daffy duck does.

Freo by 5

Freo by 9 points, MCG wider than Pattersons and Skilled but wet weather will help them out. Hawks will come out hard early and if Freo weather the early storm it's theirs.

Matt De Boer as Norm Smith Medal with penty of hard earnt possessions and hight tackle count in a wet contest

It's Game Day and the Demons will be running out on the field with a new Head Coach, albeit a caretaker, for the first time in 3,060 days when they face the Western Bulldogs at the MCG today. What do you want to see from the Demons in the first match of the Post Simon Goodwin era?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
