Some of you may have already felt this too.

But looking through the history pages of the AFL on wikipedia, old Herald Sun stories etc.

I read about the resurgence of football clubs at the bottom rung, that are poised to follow the likes of Brissy Bears and Fitzroy.

I'm excited to see a new era dawn for the club, and with it, new faces and young generations being proud again to be supporters.

I look forward to teaching my kids as they get to that curious age, about the dark days, what happened, what it felt like.

And hopefully the joy that's to come.

Anyone else feel this excitement and optimism..

I have a feeling im posting this in the wrong forum ... this is the second time ive posted something trying to get a bit of a conscious discussion on two separate topics and no one seems interested in either.

I dont think il post anymore threads, and just reply to others :lol:

PJ summed it up a few months ago when he said, "The only thing we have to sell is hope". We now have that in bucket loads.

It's been a constant battle to keep my kids on side, and who could blame them? It's hard to take them to games in the knowledge that we can't win, and headtbreaking to watch them running around in their demons jumpers at auskick, knowing they are copping jibes that are impossible to defend.

But enough of the misery. Paul Roos has chosen us above others, the old gaurd have gone and we have a first class CEO and a seriously professional president.

We are unlikely to make the 8 in 2014, and our future is by now means certain, but when it comes to hope I'm brimming with it and more importantly so are my kids. We've been sold many false dawns over the past decade and I was never convinced by any of them, but this time round the sun is streaming through the bedroom window. Bring on the future!

I feel a bit better about things but to tell you the truth, I remember back in 1997 feeling that I would never feel as humiliated barracking for Melbourne as I did then. I never felt truly embarrassed barracking for Melbourne during ND's tenure (except once in 2003 after a few stinkers).

I'm starting to feel more positive under Roosy but the proof of the pudding will be in the eating.

I'm feeling okay about 2014.
