The day I stop supporting the MFC will be the day I completely drop the AFL at senior level.

I don't know whether next year will be 'the end of being dismal' but confidence and structure will mean we can be a great deal better.

I'm with Old Dee on this one. If the Dees are out, I'm finished with AFL but if I lived in a parallel universe where I did follow another team if the Dees were no longer an option, GWS would be the last club I would pick. Inauthentic, traditionless and a marketing exercise for the AFL to sell to unenthusiastic mortgage belt voters who believe that boat people (whom they've had no contact with) and the carbon tax (which barely effected them) are destroying their lives. I would no doubt be a Swans man. Everything to admire about them.

I just hope our 'Sydney 1993' moment was '2013'. The day that Garry Buckenara was fired (nothing against the bloke but he was not the man for that job) was the day the Swannies started their long journey back. I'm hoping that the day MN was moved on is ours.

For Melbourne "rock bottom" is a step up.

I never will change the club I support, but I also don't believe MFC will ever be allowed to fold.

I can't imagine not following AFL.

And, if somehow MFC were to fold, I can't imagine not following a team.

I already have a long held hatred for most other clubs, and have often thought that if I was forced to follow another club, it'd be the Giants or the Suns.

Simply because I love the game, and the more support those teams get, the better the game will become.

Plus their futures look pretty bright.

Failing that, I'd probably have to support someone like the Lions or Port.

Once again, for the good of the game.

It is the end of an era in terms of the complete turn over of staff and we basically will have a new era commencing with a new board, management and footy staff. Whether the next era will be successful how nows. We can't play any worse, can we play better who knows.

The last 7 years the club finished off each year selling hope, the potential of the young players, the change that should move us forward and it was a complete false hope. Now the supporters have lost faith and unless they can pull a rabbit out of the hat with something big, they can't sell hope anymore. We as supporters won't buy as easy as we have done in recent years.

The next era has to earn back the respect of it's supporters, the club has lost that. Sure most of us will by a membership still, some will attend most matches, but we have lost respect for our club and players, thay have to earn this back.

It's pretty standard to consider that we couldn't possibly go lower than 2013. Of course, we are Melbourne, but to a general football commentator, we're at our lowest and as such, next year should be the start of what will be a slow climb upwards.

Thing that gets me, and I don't even know if this is the right thread to post in (probably not) is if we get a competitive (doesn't even have to be world beating) midfield we would be exponentially better- we don't have one- and many posters here talk about how easy it is to draft one in.

I think I said it last year, but this year I think it is even more important; we must strike GOLD in this draft. Another high pick failure or skinny kid needing development and we're done!

Nah, it was when Barassi moved in to get them at least looking like a football club. Ron admitted pretty much the game was past him by that stage but he basically came in to give the Swans a profile and to get some professionalism back in the group.

To read your above post makes me really angry at this club. The levels of incompetence that we have been subjected to.
