Call Stephen dank and order some testosterone. While your at it bring a defibrilator to see if we can give a few others a pulse. Watching the Dees is like watching 20 weekend at Bernies...

neil Craig - who was apparently Watts' mentor because Neeld treated him poorly got in his ear and we got a few good weeks until the North game and ever since we've been served trash from Watts.

The common denominator is that when the team plays well Watts gets on the end of things. When the team struggles he is inept.

If Craig isn't senior enough I don't know who is!

But i do not think Neil Craig will coach the club next year...i think Neil knows this and i think the players do as well

We are in a holding pattern right now...these last games ar in the way tbh...This is where the new Presidents work starts...hopefully yesterday was day 1

With PJ Bartlett has got to gauge where the headspace of the list is at.

Our problems are 95% above the shoulders.

who was the coach/team/player behind that story that a player had a bad attitude so they put him in the middle of the circle at training and he had to box blokes one after another until he was annihilated

yeah we should do that

What will they do for the other hour and 58 minutes of training...

Im not sure Watts could handle a rocket spray if Eade became coach. It may upset him

I think watts is the perfect example of where this club is at and given the right leadership how quickley we can turn things around. Yep he looks lost and uninterested but at times throughout the year most have (at least lost that is) with some exceptions. Yeah we could trade him but we need a quality player in return just cant see us getting a decent deal for what we really need in the caliber of a dangerfield, ziebel or that quality midfielder we despetatly require. Some will disagree and say he is not worth it but in the current environment who at our club is absouletly thriving? Keep watts if we can convince him to stay and get the best possible people around him lets see how quick things can turn around if that doesn't work then well....... [censored] knows

ill be spewing if he leaves. He will not peak until 24-26 and then he will be 6'6 105 kg monster running amok

Maybe this is what Jack is waiting for himself? On current trajectory, it won't happen.

My problem with Watts' approach in the footy show interview - and I suspect he was acting on very poor advice from a manager who's probably not that clever - is that he's just announced to the industry that his decision is all about his own best interests, with absolutely no regard as to what might be in the club's best interests.

Even if that is the case, and I suspect it is, a smarter operator wouldn't position himself that way in the circumstances. Such an approach really endears him to no one - MFC supporters or anyone else really. Especially given that the MFC is a struggling club and has always stood firmly behind him. Not a particularly clever approach.

There's a reason why the likes of Cameron Ling and Brett Kirk engender so much respect amongst AFL supporters - and it's not because of their foot skills or draft camp stats. They are seen to be selfless players who displayed genuine leadership towards their respective clubs, supporters and fellow players. At all times. On and off the field.

Agreed.

He must feel pretty ashamed comparing himself to Jack Viney, a first year player who has already stood up and shown the way.

He may not be a leader, and that's OK, but some level of accountability would be lovely.

No, it's not....their problem is 95% below the shoulders.

They can't kick to a moving target, they fumble below their knees, they handball to a player who's covered and they turn the ball over continuously, the more they handle it.

"It is as much about culture as honour"

Greg Baum is one of the few footy writers I respect (Flanagan is another), and this is a pretty spot on article about the whole Watts situation.

Lyon's defense of him on FC is rubbish. "He started ok then tired"

I'm with Matty Lloyd 110%. Called both of those incidents they just showed when I was watching the game as been complete rubbish.

I can only imagine what Derm Brereton would say about a Hawk doing the same or Tony Shaw about a pie. They'd probably have the guts to call a spade a spade or in this case a spud a spud.

My valuation of comments by GL is rapidly heading into the negative these days. must be eyeing off politics for he really seems to have lost the ticker for calling things as they are, but has the temerity to get upset if someone actually suggests that.

I didnt see FC but enjoyed reading lloyd's comments about JW.

Confidence is the basis of skill.

These guys are mentally shot by a regime that had no proper direction.

PJ has said it all. People almost reporting to themselves....

I have defended him. He has lost me. Good bye. Culture cancer.

I'd say he's more like a culture acid reflux.

He's a byproduct of long exposure to our poor culture, but not the cause of it.

I thought we'd come to the view that post-Schwab the CEO shouldn't get involved in football detail.

Anyway, an interesting comment from Leigh Matthews on 3AW over the weekend (Saturday, I think). When discussing Watts' Footy Show appearance he referred to John Kennedy Sr's descriptions of players as some being 20 year old boys who act like men and others being 30 year old men who act like boys. Matthews thought that Watts might be one of those men who act like "boys" just like, he said, Jared Brennan. If Matthews is right, Watts should never have appeared on the Footy Show at this time and, in my view, his manager has failed him.

As to Watts and our expectations, most players are not leaders and never will be. A few are and show it whether they have the title or not. Watts is not a leader, but he's in very good company. Gary Ablett Sr and Bruce Doull would be considered two of the best players of all times but would never be considered to be leaders (even though Geelong ludicrously made Ablett captain). On the other hand, whether he becomes captain or not and after just a handful of games, Jack Viney is a born leader.

Im a huge Watts fan, but if we could get a Yarran or Gibbs for him, i wouldnt be too upset.

We also need to get one of Sloane, Thomas or Adams, to help with our midfield rebuild.

Of course we need some decent midfield imports but dont get your excitement get the better of you regarding what Watts will garner. I can seen pain ahead for many who'll think we'll get jipped.

Sylvia is one of the few players on our list that opposition coaches rate. Fact.

How irrelevant.

I just can't wait for Sylvia to get a full pre-season under his belt. He'll be a gun one day. Mark my words....

Mate until we get the coach(s) sorted PJ & Bartlett are the club.

If the new Prez is serious about changing club direction & culture it must eminate from him straight away.

As he said "in time the admin will fade into the background"

But now is NOT the time to wait for someone else to do something.
