The club as a whole including members needs to shed the nerves in regards to recruiting.

Our recruiting during the Prendergast/Bailey era couldn't have been worse and have left a legacy of fear.

The decision makers now in play are very different in both recruiting and game strategy.

We prostituted pick 2 around, if we don't get any decent bites our guys will pick the youngster that they rate as the best possible for our club at that pick.

FWIW I don't think it will be Aish, not based on any inside information, just a feeling.

I can keep going if you'd like?

Aish weighs about 70kg, and already has dodgy shoulders

Ridiculous comment.

Those 3 look pretty good to me! Would be happy with any or all!

Was just stating that some were getting called flogs nothing else and nothing more hardtack.

Apologies... it just didn't read that way :)

He said he would expect to get a 2nd round pick as compensation for Sylvia, everything else we've heard before

I just got the end of his interview, any news worth repeating?

Not a lot. He did mention that they'd spoken to all of the clubs regarding pick 2. Sounds like most will present some sort of offer over the next couple of days. Pick 2 has clearly generated some interest. It remains to be seen whether we receive bigfooty style Shaw for pick 2 offers or the Shield/Swallow/Crouch for pick 2 deals that would have us salivating. Let's hope for the latter.

Na nothing, just that obviously we cannot match col sylvia's offer as he is a unrestricted FA. He did say 25yrs old would most likely be max age player we would consider trading pick 2 for.

Personally i would hope 22-24 yrs old

IMO the club appears very desperate. Its act to sell of pick 2 as aggressively as it is...if they have to resort to the draft again, that's not what they want.

I also gather, both from what he said and the statement on our website, that they don't regard Sylvia as a huge loss either...

I would be expecting them to be in tears, have a wake all wearing black and tell the AFL that we just lost the greatest Dees player of the modern era.

Then ask how the AFL were planning to compensate this enormous loss.

The interview on SEN was a little bit more informative.

Regarding putting pick 2 on the table.

Clubs will be busy putting their offers together over the weekend.

Offer may vary from straight trade or trade player + draft pick, or even a couple of players.

When the offers are in we will sit down and work out which if any will suit.

He said we are a long way down the track because of these past 4 days.

It just means that when the trade period starts most of the homework has been done.

He plays a mean game of poker. Cards are extremely close to his chest.

We pulled the wool over their eyes once before ($cully), so they might not fall for that again.

Having said that it should be pick 21 I would imagine, which should get us a decent player, such a waste of time for Col and us over the last 10 years.

Pick 21 would be an excellent result, perhaps better than we would get in a trade.

Exactly, Or was he encouraged to go in way off a very modest offer which reflected his true worth. Between Sylvia and Davey going I'm guessing that would free up close to 900k. That money can now be used to persuade a mid to join us. Wonder if that crossed Roo's mind.

Hmmm, let me see now; probably yes.

We could launch late bid for Buddy.

Can't give any results on the interviews but we spoke to Mitch Robinson last week and Shane savage this week. Both are unhappy at their current clubs and want to move. Personally I would be happy with them at the dees just as starters. Obviously not giving up too much but we have 2 second rounders (most likely) and a third. I'd like to get one for a fourth or swap of players.

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
