Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

That's a little harsh, Some of his stats (inside 50s, tackles, clearances) have been quite solid over the last few weeks. Considering grimes, viney and Evans have been out, who would you have preferred from last years list take that place on this seasons list? Bate? Petterd? Gysberts?

I would rather they had a couple of extra rookies and played Couch or Magner, it is pointless having Rodan on the list and hopefully at the end of the year he won't be any longer.

He is past it and should never have been drafted, he's not part of our future and wasn't part of our past, he typifies all that was wrong with Neeld's tenure at the club.

Shane Valenti says hi. As does Pedersen - always stars at this level, but except for occasional flashes, can't put it together consistently at AFL level.

Magner was probably our best player in the first half dozen games last year.

Watched most of this game, it's nice to feel good about a side and watch players playing well for a change.

It's all been said about Hogan. His kicking action is really weird and doesn't look great (I feel like his follow-through is average), but who gives a rat's, really?

Pedersen was outstanding. For whatever reason, he's on the giant list of Melbourne players who have been fine at VFL level but inadequate at AFL level. He looked a class above and a leader today. Played the kind of game we should be seeing consistently from him or Dunn in the seniors.

Magner and Couch are two honest footballers, but Magner's body language was appalling today, and his decision-making at times woeful. Couch's clearance work is fantastic, which obviously Melbourne is crying out for, but his disposal is shocking, truly awful. I can see why neither are getting games, though I do sympathise and at times wonder if we could at least give them a shot in a season which is long gone. It must be tough on them to see some players get rewarded based on one or two noticeable games whilst they consistently go about their business, and when we're battling in the middle, some clearance work would be appreciated. But on what I saw today, the extra speed and intensity of AFL football would be far too much for Couch, whilst Magner's not going anywhere whilst he cracks the sooks like he did today.

Where does Hogan sit on leading goal kickers? I'm do glad I got to watch the first 5 minutes of the game today, Casey should be on the box every week with this kid playing.

Don't disagree with you saying he isn't part of the future. But he is the bottom tier of players on a list of 40. I think Rodan adds an element of X factor and speed, he definitely holds up a place while grimes viney etc are injured and Kent, toumpas keep learning. Also cover for Matt jones if he gets tired.

I think your displeasure should be focused more at the recruitment and development of the 2008-2011 period, than worrying about that of Rodan filling in for a season or 2 while juniors develop..

Magner won't make it at AFL level.

Couch still could, but it's unlikely.

Hogan is a gun and will be better at AFL level, the delivery into him today was bush footy standard - pathetic.

Barry is going to be a VERY good player, I'd like to know where he hides though, goes missing a lot. One feels that at AFL level Barry would have no where to hide, I think he'll be a gun Barry.

Tapscott and Strauss are ticking along ok at Casey.

I hope people who wonder why Couch, Magner etc... don't get games watch today. Couch decision making is awful and Magner cant spread. There is no benefit playing them up a level. Strauss has been good and Tapscott has worked hard but has not been rewarded on alot of occasions.

Says it all. Couch has had plenty of the ball and turned it over often. His skills were poor today.

While he missed a couple of goals, thought Troy Davis played a very good game today.

i also thought Pedersen was excellent. Josh Tynan had a good one too. Thought Taggart struggled.

Gillies and Jetta will be gone at season's end.

Magner was one of our best midfielders in his 2 games this year.

Also one of our best if not THE best last year before being moved forward by Neeld.

Had a good last Q I thought 'Redleg' but not involved enough earlier. Like a lot of our players, they don't seem to want the ball enough.

Anyone else notice the motivational banner in the rooms afterwards "hard to play against"? sounds like the promised mantra of a certain ex coach!

Also Phil the dill Cleary's interview with Hogan was cringe worthy bad "so, you're just 18 years old how does that feel" etc.

KC do you know why Nathan Page wasn't playing today? I've been quite impressed with him, Mitch Gent and Jake Best as casey listed players this year.

After Hogan, thought Danny Nicholls was next best on ground today.

For every Shane Valenti, there is a Michael Barlow. There is Dayne Zorko, there is an Ian Callinan, a Danny Stanley. A lot of blokes who perform at second tier level but don't have the chance until they get a bit older. I've already mentioned Magner earlier in my posts.

Yeah, but Valenti & Magner are from the same mould, while Zorko, Barlow, etc aren't.

Magner has had chances at AFL level and his skills just don't translate.

Any reasonable person should be able to see that.

What is it about MFC listed players and poor kicking skills? Can't full time professional footballers learn to kick accurately with some practice and advice. I'm not talking elite kicking for distance, trajectory or precision which some have and others never will Have. I am talking about the ability to pass a ball 20 or 30 meters to a target or at least to the target's advantage.

A big start to the day for the Scorpions with the AFL Victoria Development League team winning by a comfortable 27 points in a low scoring game in the curtain raiser to the ABC telecast game. The game was played in foggy conditions and the fourth placed Northern Blues were kept goalless in the second half.

Northern Blues, 2.0.12 3.3.21 3.5.23 3.7.25

Northern Blues Dorman 2 Dirago

Both of these spuds will get the chop at the end of this season but I'll bet you still won't come to your senses.

I understand what you're trying to say but there is honestly no point in playing them.

There is, it's called culture. We're not that familiar with it at MFC. If someone is playing so well at Casey that they deserve a call up, they should get it. Competition for spots is how a list gets better. I'm on record here on 'Land as saying I hope Couch and Magner aren't on our list soon. Not because I don't like their effort, but because I want our list to improve to the point where they are not good enough. We're not at that stage yet.

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
