WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS

It takes 22 players to make up a team. Frawley just needs to play his role, and play it well. Creating a culture around Frawley is another way to move forward. Players such as Frawley are keepers at all cost IMO

Okay so everyone needs to turn on their TVs on when we are playing so we get the ratings up .... and whilst your at it open up your freezer door (do your bit for global warming ;) )

I heard a terrific interview with the Johm Lord on SEN last night. He played in four premiership sides including a BOG in our last. He was saying that in his view there are three essential elements to a successful club (which the dees had in his time) - A great coach, a great committee and a great president. He said since 64 the dees have times where we've had one, maybe two of those elements but never 3. Mentioned Collingwood and Cats as two current clubs who have all 3.

Simple stuff i suppose but he is spot on. I would add the need fro a great CEO in todays game. Roos will not sign if all the elements are not in place but i believe he may well if they are.

Appointing the right coach is absolutely imperative for contributing to build a football club's traits such as culture, belief, work ethic, discipline etc etc. There is no arguing that.

Players "get it" at different times. It also helps if you have others to bounce off. Matty Scarlett was on 3AW last night and admitted that the penny didn't drop for him until he was 25 and thankfully there were a couple of others that shared his determination to make a change.

How old is Frawley and who has he had to bounce off ? Garland and Jones maybe, among a dysfunctional environment. That's about it. I wouldn't blame Frawley too much for our predicament.

I'd say some get it at different times. Others not at all. Frawley has shown no signs of getting it, and again, I am using him as one example, never was I blaming him for where the MFC stands now.

I'm just a strong believer that we drafted players who are not very smart. Couple that with the environment the MFC have provided over the past decade and you're in quicksand most of your career.

Viney has a different sort of hunger and determination. Hogan seems to have it too. Jones can be put in that category. Even Terlich. The way they play is as though their lives depend upon every contest they enter. They're also smart players. We need more of them.

The tea leaves this morning formed the shape of a wallaby, or was it a roo?

if only one then indeed we might ^_^

Appointing the right coach is absolutely imperative for contributing to build a football club's traits such as culture, belief, work ethic, discipline etc etc. There is no arguing that.

However, what is equally important, is drafting and trading for the kinds of players who will absolutely take to these principles and structures that are set in place and pick this club out of the hole it's in, thrusting it straight back up to where it needs to be. This is about drafting smart, hungry, desperate and skilled footballers and weeding out current players who are victims of the current environment and who cannot and will not respond to any sort of coach.

When I watch James Frawley play, I think to myself, "Wow, here's a guy who just doesn't have the awareness or consciousness to be able to grab this group by the scruff and take them forward". Now, James has been absolutely blessed when it comes to his physical build, speed, agility and (most of the time), footballing skills. When it comes to his capacity to think, his awareness and his level of consciousness, he really falls behind. This is about having a holistic understanding of what it takes to be a leader amongst men and building a strong and successful footy club with people and players who have a consciousness bigger than the size of a golf ball. Tom Harley is someone who has left a legacy at the cats. He and Frawley have a very similar physical attributes, however one helped transform a club. Frawley is simply another sheep, happy to beat his man, not have much to say, not care to inspire nor willing to change his ways. He can't. He is a victim of the MFC's environment and he has a limited capacity to think.

He is one example. I'm not having a pot shot. He is one of many who are sick and dumb. Sylvia, Jamar, Davey, Dunn. These players all suffer from the same thing to varying degrees and the more players you draft in with limited capacities to think and who are expected to be inspired by the above crop of players will also suffer. That is strictly a recruiting problem though.

We could go further back to the days of Yze, Robbo, White etc who also saw AFL as just a kick in the park but I won't go into it.

It's top down stuff and we've heard it all before.

Coach, board, recruitment, development, and players are all as important as each other.

If we got Paul Roos tomorrow and had the same list, I would be confident to say we would still lose to the Suns on the weekend.

The problems at MFC run deep. Stop neglecting the deep, psychological complexities that most of the playing group suffer from. No coach can change conditioning.

it's the club culture Steve that gets into them when they're young, & they lose the rebellious fire in their gut that makes them fight the losses.. they are surroundee with successful people who don't have to get dirty or sweat hard for a living...

it has the effect of softening their hunger for the contest & fuels the thoughts of an easier life. it quenches Most fires... demons to fuscias

Ratings don't work like that....

Roos would be the best choice but I think that Neil Craig and Rodney Eade would have more passion to do the job. Craig's press conference today suggested that he knows what is needed to turn this club round and with a few new coaches and players he would probably make a success of it.

Craig would be cheaper too.

He has a contract for next year that has to be paid one way or the other.

for me its still roos or choco, a premiership coach could sell hope on a totally different level to craig

So could Ross Lyon and he is not a Premiership Coach, sits in the same boat as Eade, whilst it is a great feather in the cap don't let it cloud your judgement. Alan Joyce was also a Premiership Coach maybe even 2 time Premiership Coach

I can't believe that some people on here are still in favour of an untried coach.

It cannot happen. After 2 absolute failures the club is in recievership right now.

We need an experienced coach who will bring more than hope.

We need guarranteed action. The TV deal cannot have another year of dead matches that nobody watches.

Please understand this. The TV Networks are not pleased, selling advertising space for a Melbourne game right now is very slow and cheap.

The are losing money.

couldn't agree more

if we announce some other highly rated assistant has the job I am seriously done with this club... because I will be jumping off before it completely dies

I think he would probably develop a new game plan based around the strengths of our list.

That would be a truly remarkable game plan!

in all honesty i do not understand why ALL Demonlanders cannot fully understand this & are demanding it of the club.

Last week GW$ were favourites to win, & they did by 6 goals.

My God we ARE THAT BAD right now.

There is no doubting that we will get an experienced coach. As it stands right now, Eade and Williams must surely be up there as preferred candidates.

But are those 2 candidates able to turn the entire club around?

Now i know a Football Department manager is also crucial in all this...?

My gut feeling is Williams could through sheer force of personality

Good point mate, i'm sure Eade would be a great coach for us, would certainly get the best out of the players.

Would we all be satisfied if it was any one of Roos, Eade or Williams? I think I would for what it's worth. I don't even mind the thought of Craig getting the role.

I still think the last two games would have really hurt his chances, remember one of the key criteria is the ability to sell hope to the supporters, pretty hard to do that when North have just pumped you by 20 goals and GWS beat you easily.

I want Craig to stay. But he is not the senior coach

GC are $1.13 favourites this week

That is how bad we are.

We MUST aquire a Premiership WINNING Coach to resurrect this sorry club that i love like family.

I'm not sure about this WYL. They claim the players like him but after Neeld you'd like Attilla the Hun. I really want Roos but if he does not want the job - I don't want Eade. Maybe choko.

Why not Eade BBO?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
