Yes, I have no inside knowledge but this is going to drag out. I mean we can't even talk to any of our 'fallbacks' for at least 9 weeks.

I am thinking that with the AFL involved in our plight we may be able to contact other coaching prospects but very much on the quiet.

We now know the dees can keep things quiet ie the dud ones sacking.

Here hoping things are moving in the right direction.

Roos just commented OTC that something needs to change for him to coach.

What that "something" is I have no idea. MS said his "mind" needs to change as a joke but Roos said he doesn't know what needs to change and money is not important.

He also said he doesn't really want to coach but will take calls out of curtiousy

Both MS and GH said that they believe Roos more than when Hird was saying it when he was a regular OTC..

I would think that based on his response we will end up with Willams

Saw that. Just a gut feel but roos to me is never one to reveal much and I get a shifty feeling with him. It's an annoying trait but he dodges questions like a politician.

I remember him acting so surprised as an innocent ex coach at what Brock revealed when the footy world knows he instructed mcveigh in a nab cup game to not kick goals up forward.

Maybe it just me.

All done on a shoestring budget as well.

Maybe maybe not but it will be a while till we hear I would imagine.

In what way does he give u a shifty feeling BR?

I don't think Williams had big $$$$ at Port when he coached there either.

My main reason of choosing Williams over Eade is that Williams has made it to the top. Other than that I think they are very similar coaches.

...and he wants one bad. As a player Eade has won 4 flags and I think he has one as a reserves coach, maybe wrong there but if he could win one as a senior coach it would cap of a very good career in football. If he did it at Melbourne he would be a legend.

Im still not hearing a definate no.

not fussed if roos rules himself out, eade or williams and maybe a sumich or burns in a succession plan might be just as good, roos has never coached a really poor list so he may not be any better than an untried assistant apart from the bonus his profile gives in terms of sponsors

Healy said that Roos has ruled himself out.

So, it's down to 3 now.

Williams, Eade and Craig.

That was more GH allowing Roos to talk about a scenario of who he would like to coach either the dees or saints without be biased so to speak.

I have this nagging feeling that if us getting Roos is dependent on whether we get a priority pick then they will give it to us. And I think also feel that this is one of the things he's waiting to find out.

Has bomber Thompson ruled him self out? He has to be the best coach around.... Its a long shot, but worth asking....

Yes he did last Monday

He's up to his eyeballs in the PED case at Essendon.

Not a hope even if he begged for it.

This chasing after a reluctant coach has too much of the Saints' debacle about it. They threw money at Blight until he caved and agreed to coach them, but his heart wasn't in it and he clashed with the board pretty much from day 1. I don't think we would get any more out of it than they did. Better to have someone who wants to be here.

Totally agree mate, the thing is IMO if we get the right coach which I think is Eade or Williams, we could rise like Port or Gold coast have, we have a good spine, very good forward line on paper, if we bolster our midfield and get some confidence in the group we could close the cap very quickly, not saying I think we can make finals in 2014 but I think we can certainly be a much improved side and start winning back some respect.

That is an interesting thought, as OTC tonight he was definite we should get a PP, while Sheahan said no.

Not according to some of the senior Geelong players ...

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
