Kennett future MelbourneFC President?

Easy to overlook Kennett due to the silly things that he says in the media.

But here is a bloke who has actually goverened the state, previously been involved at a successful football club.

Kennett shouldn't be easily dismissed as some will do on this board.

Kennett is an option and it's refreshing to know that the club is looking at these types of candidates.

Nah, I prefer the anthems of godless, repressive regimes that are out to steal your freedom. There are thousands just like us floating around in this vast nightmarish wasteland of university professors, museums and people who recycle known as Victoria. Oh for the good old days of Terra nullius and Joh Bjelke Petersen!

WHAT THE ****. We’re in a hole right now and yeah it hurts, **** it hurts, but geez let’s get keep our heads screwed on. Germany was in a bit of strife after the First World War too.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/demons-and-kangas-should-merge-kennett-20120419-1x9pk.html (2012)

So, what do we know?

  • When it comes to Melbourne, we know from what he’s said over the last few years that deep down in his heart he doesn’t give two ***** about us and would be happy to see us ****** with or involved in a merger with another club.
  • When it comes to Hawthorn, his love and passion, that he would rather have seen them merge.

He could be the best administrator/figurehead/orator/motivator in the entire world, but if he’d be open to his own club merging, let alone one that he doesn’t give two ***** about, then why the **** would anyone want to let him anywhere near our club? I’d deny his application for a job as an admin clerk on that basis and we’re talking about him running the place.

Please keep your politics out of this. I expect many of the 'leftists' you see all about you would prefer Stockdale to Kennett even though Stockdale is more of a silvertail than Kennett. Why? Because he is a successful man who supports the Demons and hasn't called for our merger with North within the last 13 months.

Kennett may be the dynamo to save us as some here argue, but I still say, why take the risk of trusting him. If there is any doubt, find someone else with the right skills, eg Stockdale perhaps, though I expect there are plenty out there we just don't know about. We didn't know the names of president's of many top sides before they took the job. So the MFC may have similar potential presidents in the wings.

Agree.

Save the Hun style debate for the Andrew Bolt Column.

One Government bankrupts the state, so the next Government is forced to make tough and unpopular decisions. Little wonder there's some that bleat and moan.

Ingrate.

Just like the MFC relying on supporter donations and handouts from the AFL, selling off public assets under the guise of neoliberalism is an unsustainable business model. When the Libs get back in nex time there'll be nothing left to sell off.

He advocated Hawthorn should merge with us in 1996 but that didn't stop the Hawks from having him as President.

He would upset some people, but would also make the club better

. he's a bloody Hawthorn supporter why the hell would we want him at Melbourne. He would probably try to get us to Canberra or Darwin or Cairns. He wouldn't go Tassie because his beloved hawks are there.

Jeff is a [censored] who loves the sound of his own voice and his own ideas.

F*** off Jeff

This attitude is really starting to jack me off! We are a basket case and not in a position to tell people to F off.

A lot of MFC supporters are just P/Weak and dust collectors who are against change. FFS serious change is needed here.

Based on that logic you should be moving Peter Jackson on quick smart.

Still dreaming of Elsternwick DL....??

i live 5 minutes from there....it won't happen...there is no parking, it's on a highway...nobody stops...

Truly. i go past that pub every day for work...it's dead.

no, anything to get a Training Facility & Social Hub started... you helped me realise that we need to be outside the 'G' so we can not only watch training,, but also for after matches,, & watching Interstate games there.

.. so Richmond it needs to be... I take it you wouldn't attend by your tone?

I think years ago some were looking at the caulfield racecourse to setup a football training venture & social centre.

But that was way before the Olympic Park precinct presented itself around the time of the Gabriel Zondy - Paul Gardiner Boards... we lacked Entrepreneurs.

I sense you don not think we can win back more grass roots supporters with a Social Facility at our training ground.... but its the grass roots end of our supporter base which isn't growing, no?

Jackson is here to change the football club, bringing Jeff in will only conflict with what is already in the works. Just let Jackson do his job, we don't need a high profile loose canon for a president, we need an effective one.

it isn't the club,,,, its a group of disgruntled supporters going around the club.. trying to stir up a mutiny to get what they've been planning for months... don't you see where most of the negativity has been sprouted from? its been going on for ages.

sprouted roots last year.

That's what we have now. But hey, let's keep our wonderful culture of losing

You don't replace one circus with another, change is happening now...let it happen.

The ringmaster CS has gone and Lyon has been marginalised, the club is moving on.

If Roy Morgan conducted a poll of supporters I am pretty sure you will get a surprise. It's more than a handful of disgruntled supporters.

This is a tsunami heading towards the board.

& all with 72 posts to their avatars, is that 72 posts on all their 25 different avatars?

why can't people just be upfront,,, & use their main avatar all the time, instead of hiding behind others?

Yes it seems to be, or at least they are the loudest and change must and will happen but not this one.

Jeff essentially is in this for Jeff and he is a publicity [censored]. Compare him with another premier who served just as long as he did, Steve Bracks. Do you hear Bracksy on the radio shooting his mouth off about this that and the other?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
