we are probably where we are thanks to the reverend and his shocking recruiting strategies.

Too old for the modern day game - one has to think quickly these days and be innovative.

Prelim in 1998, Granny in 2000, Semi final in 2002, Semi final in 2006

finals in 2004, 2005

Anyone here would give their left nut to be that good again.

I love the Reverend.

Yep forgot to say Clarkson did say he was gobsmacked that the ND wasnt still in the coaching caper.. think he is still one of the best coachthats not coaching. Rates him very highly. Just one thing though i dont remember Clarkson playing under ND anyway? happy to be corrected.

Daniher actually finished his career. Clarkson played his last season in 1997 and Rowdy flicked him straight away but appointed him as a conditioning coach and runner for 98. That's where he worked with him. He only stayed on for 12 months but obviously in that time he made a good impression on him.

I don't want him back as coach, but not because you think he stuffed the list.

CS stuffed the list he was the one responsible for the Salary cap breaches.

He was solely responsible for our Drafting being put back 5 years.

When we finished near the bottom in 2001, who could we have drafted, that we missed out on.

my reason for not getting him back is once sacked don't go cap in hand begging him to come back.

Neil Craig makes me want to vomit.

He has provided no support to Neeld at all.(especially in the face of the media)

Give his job to the Rev.

If nothing else, a cheery face amid the gloom.

Surely, this is for the FM position?

And, surely, it happens at the end of the season?

The amount of people that think we are going to get the people we want long term to be in place in-season is staggering.

These people have contracts with other clubs and while we are fixated on the draft, FA, and the cricket - there are clubs that are still playing meaningful football...

in the Reverends last game he was given a guard of honor by both teams

This is a guy who the players loved, and who the opposition respected

I remember crying my eyes out that night....

I was gutted.. i first supported melvourne in 1998 so to me i was only ever use to Daniher and seeing him walk off like he did that night brought a great deal of sadness to me.

We need to look at where Daniher left us when his coaching stint ended and the fact that he's been out of the coaching caper for so long.

Pass.

Yep. He has a fair bit to answer for.

Held onto players for far too long, presumably to prolong his own tenure.

Then we lost most of them around the same time. Made no investment in the future.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
