Game Day Thread - Hawks v Daemons

Wait so decision making is not the coach's domain?

No its not. It is the players responsibility not to play on when he is about to be tackled.

You can lead a horse you water but you can't make it drink. This applies to the coach and the players and this conversation.

Neeld may be sacked tomorrow, or next week or in 6 months. It won't surprise me nor will it upset me. But he won't be sacked or held accountable for that.

Keep it up mate, your Neeldy positivity campaign is good for a few laughs.

Doubt it will last after Monday night though.

jones is a star the rest are rubbish

Lucky we've been so inaccurate in front of goal and kept the hawks in it

Nathan jones is a dead set star and footy sucks that's all I know.

Sorry Mark. This ends Monday.

I can't wait for something to happen. Anything. Neeld to go. Players to change. Something.

This is seriously horrible.

I can't stand this. I just can't.

It's not friggin good enough and it's not all the coach, but he certainly isn't helping.

Something's gotta give. These defeats are untenable. This club is untenable.

Garage, car, hose

Memories of 88 gf, too big , too strong , too skilfull

Well faaarkkk me!!! What a absolute shocker !!

Rodin should never be played again for us !

A waist of space !! Jones heaps of touches but no help !!

Your comprehension skills are obviously pretty poor. I am no pro Neeld, and haven't been.

I am pro common sense and rationality.

Blaming a coach for a poor on field decision is ridiculous. So is blaming a coach for being too defensive when we play on and attack more than anyone.

I am happy to discuss any problems or issues rationally but demonland is going crazy with stamp my foot, demands of change from people who are talking rubbish and not making sense.

Did he just say Ling has been working with Trenners and the MFC midfield ??

He was working with him last year too. Perhaps time Trenners sacked him.

Just to stick to the things that don't make me want to top myself:

We've had 178 disposals in a half. Much better than the last few weeks.

We're now leading clearances 20-19, and leading tackles 37-23.

That's about it really. 34 inside 50s to 19, conceding 224 disposals in a half (100+ that quarter) - the usual MFC problems.

It sounds like Neeld put numbers behind the ball. Again. I hate this move. He then uses it to defend the team afterwards ('look, we had to put numbers behind the ball early and we were under the pump all day'). Bailey used to do it too. It never, ever works. All it does is free up a dangerous opposition player to play loose and do what they want. It's an awful strategy. One of the reasons why Neeld isn't good enough.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
