And you research it McQueen?

Why would I, Rhino? It's not my job.

I don't believe Viney was apart of the Old Boys Club that we all lie to blame for our ills. In fact he left the club in 2001 and cam back after a decade IIRC. Most notably he was at Adelaide and Hawthorn as successful Assistants (if one can be a successful assistant...).

Love the passion that flies around here for the footy club. Which is why I won't ignore those that have the club, and want the best for it, in their minds eye.

Both RR's have been more about petty point scoring and self-aggrandizement while trying to antagonize all and sundry. One is banned, the other is not.

Oddly enough, when RR was a mod he would have banned people for doing what he is now doing.

Thanks for the suggestions on moderating. We'll take it on board although I personally don't agree with your comparison.

In the meantime, please keep to the topic (see OP) and no grandstanding please (that's a general request and refers to all).

IMO these two are going to be filed in the file marked "Cook"

When was the last time Geelong or North gave away a good player?

We got chumped with these two.

Gibson and Hale at the Hawks say hi.

Don't forget the Hawks giving away Kennedy and McGlynn themselves. Most teams give up good players. Though thinking of Sydney, have they given up any good players recently?

The Viney's have Jack, Jimmy T & Jessie H living under their roof. Todd's position at the club is close to being untouchable in my opinion

Hands off Todd. Any talk about him in a negative way should cease.

Does Bazza Hall count?

Hawthorn had to give up Kennedy and McGlynn to ease their cap.

Sydney don't have that problem,as they get a leg up from the AFL.

I don't dislike Wilson because I think what she says is incorrect. Of course, some of what she has said has been proven, in fact, to be incorrect (e.g. the whole 'Schwab will be sacked' stuff about the tanking). That just adds to it.

What I don't like is her overall negative 'journalism'. I can't even remember the last time she wrote anything positive. I'm not talking just about Melbourne here, just in general. To fill paper space she seems to just write negative stuff about clubs. She is sensationalist at times, making things sound far worse than they are (she is guilty of doing this with our tanking inquiry, our 'relationship' with Dank, and the Essendon drugs stuff). Her opinions often revolve around people needing to stand down or resign or be sacked (think Schwab, McLardy, Evans, Hird, Brayshaw).

She often takes one piece of 'evidence' (sometimes she talks about something in the public domain, but many others she refers to what she's 'heard' or 'learnt') and runs a massive piece on it. She very regularly writes the same thing two or more times, just using different words, but the same overall theme.

She is a waste of space and I don't enjoy reading anything she writes, whether it's on Melbourne or any other issue. That's not because she's saying things I don't necessarily believe, or even want to believe. Melbourne's crap, she's not wrong about that. But it's the way she writes her tripe that I just can't stand anymore.

We have ourselves to blame for the incredible mess we are in.

We were incompetent in the tanking process and heads have already rolled.

She reported on the evidence leaked to her.

And she has been equally harsh on Essendon recently on the drugs. And is been done to death we were done for tanking and others weren't. As usual we were worse than other clubs doing it.

She's still an incredibly biased journalist. She won't touch the Dustin Martin issue and pretty much anything Richmond related, unless it's positive. The only thing she got right was Schwab, which was driven by her agenda against him. For the Chief Football Writer at The Age, she's sensationalist and her continued biases lend her absolutely no credibility whatsoever. She always seems to have an agenda.

Geez whatever happened between the two of them. Seems not to be a carry over issue between their fathers but something has obviously put CW's nose out of joint in the time between 2010 and 2012. Ha would make a good topic - would take our minds off current issues. Far more entertaining thinking up reasons why our Caro suddenly turned and became the embittered one.

How much damage do you think her words have caused our playing group over the last 12 months, these young kids work for an organisation, that among other things, she has called pathetic and disgusting. How hard would it be for those kids to have to continually put up with the rubbish she and others have heaped on the club.

Peter Jackson has the inside knowledge (Note: not journalistic sensationalism) and has said that MFC doesn't have the respect of other clubs.

Should we also be calling PJ out for the damage this type of comment might have on the 'young kids' ?

Same could be said of Gary Lyon & Melbourne. Could just as easily pick on GL for having an agenda. Many in the media do - what's new?

So you can't see any difference in Wilson saying that or club is pathetic and disgusting, and suggesting that we have ruined the lives of young men by playing them out of position and what Jackson said that we don't have the respect of other clubs?

Sorry 'old dee' but you did ask...

Ablett and Mumford.

Gibson and Hale.

I know there was the issue of money but they could have shelled it out if they really wanted to keep the player.

Should be a start.

Actually they gave neither away all left because they wanted an opertunity or in Abletts case way more money than Geelong could afford.

Geelong and North wanted to keep all the ones you mention.

Your point about the alleged generational stoush between the 2 families is good one. The glowing and supportive 2010 article punctures that myth. Wilson said on 3aw that after that article was written, that sources within and external to MFC came to her with a number of disturbing aspects of what was actually happening and the rest is history and Jackson is left to clean up the mess.

Only you has been pedalling the "pathetic and disgusting" mantra for whatever melodramatic purposes you want.

She has documented a number of very serious shortcomings at MFC. Her assessments have been correct and align with some of initial assessments of Jackson.

And on the field we have been pathetic and worse off. MFC has brought it on itself.

You don't like or can't deal with issues coming to light with fictionalising that others have [that word] or label it is muckraking. And you still haven't realise the seriousness of the issues as you are to busy try to slag the messenger.

I guess if you don't like what she writes then just claim she has an agenda. Sounds real sinister

Gee thanks RR for the encouragement. She has never actually come out with what CS was "doing" to the Club. If she came clean with that her writings would not look to the outsider so completely biased. We would all have a clearer picture of what the problems were and are.

On the contrary she has been candid (too candid for some) in respect of the MFC shortcomings on and off the field.

Sadly she has been proven sage about key failings at the Club despite those that nitpick her to maintain the denial.

It's amazing MFC could allowed itself to become what it has become today.

And despite being well written, the article by Dawes is truly depressing.

Throw enough mud and eventually some will stick.

How many times has she said X was going to be sacked only for X to continue in their job?

Ambulance chaser with Hutchinson and Barrett. The AFL would be better off without all 3.

Wilson's also known for making broad, sweeping statements critical of people in the game and then claiming to be vindicated depending on later outcomes. Then her supporters predictably jump on the bandwagon.

Do you think that it's some closely guarded secret that we are in a lot of bother? Do you think that it's only you and a few other informed ones that realise there are problems at the club?

Give you a tip; if you do your wrong. We all know, except a few who are not prepared to face up to reality, that there are problems we just don't need the Wilsons of this world making it worse, the more adverse the publicity the more difficult it is to keep the club afloat. It's like a bank, if there are rumours that a bank is in trouble then there will probably be a run on the bank and the bank will fail even though it may be able to trade out of it's current situation.

The more [censored] this hack, and others like her print, the closer we are to failing. Now that may not bother you, and it appears it doesn't, but it does bother others that actually support the club.

We are like the wounded animal sitting at the back of the heard at the moment and the jackals are just waiting for the right moment to pounce. How many other clubs do you think have been in touch with our sponsors suggesting that they may be a better option for them?

You remind me of one of those jackals, with blood on your teeth and a gleam in your eye.

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
