Watts was ok when he went forward. I was swearing at the tv when he was in the back line. He was terrible. No two ways about it. Waited for the ball to come to him. Chased with little to no pace and put up no effort when the opposition blocked and sheperded him out of the contest. Very soft. Simply didnt want to get the ball himself.

Maybe time for Watts to go forward again? He did look good and read the ball really well which resulted in a couple of marks. That goal he kicked from the boundary was awesome, really showed his skills. There's definitely a spot there for him without Clark at least.

Yeah I don't like that rotation thing where players go straight off after a goal, doesn't make a heap of sense in my eyes.

As well as that he hit a couple of packs in the air pretty hard which was surprising to see.

I thought I saw him get crunched going back for a mark in the first half. That was more like what we want to see. Body on the line when it's his turn. He can do it, but he has to want the contest.

Also saw his flat footed chase in the first half. Was screaming at the TV for Jack to do more than jog. However, I saw MANY Melbourne players ambling along at half rat power behind Bris players today, and in qtr 2 and 3 last week against GWS. Stumbling around like lost drunks. Surely when they do video reviews this is shown to them. No chase, no pressure. Must be embarrassed when they see it played back. It can't be fitness when it's in the first half.

I would have thought that getting Clark in the first place was so we could let Jack develop naturally as a forward, without being the number one target, mark neeld mistake no 1019310933.

I dont understand why Watts is so scared to get touched. He has to get it into his head he is nearly 2 metres tall, is definitely not a skinny boy anymore. He runs around ilke Jamie Bennel all day.

Watts is a much better bet forward than Pederson. Rotate him through with Howe when Dawes and Clark come back in.

The trouble with Watts forward is that if he is taking the spot of a Tapscott or Bail he has to do their defensive efforts as well. That means running and chasing and tackling. 3 things I've seen Watts do about 4 times in his entire career. Not to mention Tapscott has backed into packs both of the last 2 weeks to force a contest. Watts did it once on the weekend, can he do it reliably?

What we want to see is the ball in his hand multiple times but at the same time his opponent (regardless of what end he is playing) kept quiet. I'm yet to see that from him.

I agree with your argument but Tapscott only laid 2 tackles on the weekend, Watts had non which is a big gap in his game. Watts is all over Tapscott in terms of forward capabilities though, and bail doesnt have the vision or skill to be damaging.

We really need t Watts to have Bails defensive pressuring ect but keep his skill and vision.

Also we had about 4 players in total with more than 3 tackles that is poor.....especially when the opposition have the ball 100 more times than us

I saw that also, and there was clearly some confusion calling him off and back again etc.. why in the name of god would you bring him off at that point, we were still in the game and desperately needed goalkickers, and a bloke who has been bashed by all and sundry had finally done something, JW must have been fuming inside
