What decent opposition players are uncontracted from other clubs come seasons end???

Can someone list a few decent players from other clubs we should look at come seasons end prefs mids? I know Mitch Brown is uncontracted?

P.S. If Watts was to leave at seasons end we are far better off getting an establihed player on board rather than a draft pick as people suggest, because that would mean we lose another seasoned player and gain a kid who we have to put years into developing!!

Over the next few years we can probably start picking off a few of the Gold Coast and GWS kids. They can't keep them all. Unfortunately every other club will have the same idea.

I will spew if we trade Watts for a draft pick. Must be a quality player or no trade can be arranged.

I would seriously entertain trading our first pick this year for a quality player.

I know Mark LeCras is out of contract and I would make him a priority.

I think Dal Santo and Harry Taylor are out of contract as well.

Out of the free agents that we MAY have a chance of getting and IMO would be good for us, these would be my picks:

Mark LeCras

Eddie Betts

Dale Thomas

Nick Dal Santo

Brent Guerra

Nathan Van Berlo

There's a few others that would be awesome ie: Franklin, Cox, Hodge, Mitchell, Scott Thompson, but don't think they're a chance to move clubs.

Some are free agents, you don't trade for free agents, but totally agree on the pick. As I've said on another post a quality player or no trade, I would prefer to keep Jack but that will depend a lot on who is the coach.

Whoever it is it must be mids mids mids. Inside mids. Next year we will have Clark, Dawes & Hogan up forward. Not much good though without anyone giving them the pill. Viney & Jones will be there. Toumpas, maybe Matt Jones outside mids but we need more senior mids.

Mids 1st priority for sure, but also a small forward and maybe a ruckman.

Van Berlo and Thomas would be great additions to our Midfield but i imagine we would have to pay significant $ to convince them to come here.

Lance Franklin is one guy you know of.

I dont care if he makes Scarface look like a straight-arse.

Get him.

There's a list here of the free agents:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-03-15/free-agency

But I'd be interested to hear about decent players who are coming out of contract too.

We might have a real shot with some of the Blues if things don't work out with Malthouse, especially as they are so close to the cap. Although they may not want come to us due to Neeld coming through the Malthouse system. That is not having a go at Neeld just the association.

I don't think he has leg speed to be honest, but he does have agro and does seem to lack fear. Not the best trooper off-field.

There's a couple i don't mind Cox (Gawn + Cox could be something special, even if its for a couple of years), Selwood, Dal Santo and Cross would also be interesting.

But all is useless until we can get some sort of credibility back into the club

If he does leave the Hawks, GWS might price us out with some sort of concessional promotion bonus from the AFL.

If your talking about Nathan Van Berlo we have no hope. He is the captain of the Crows. But yes I agree Dale Thomas would be a great get.

Neil Craig at Melbourne and a pay rise might be worth considering, couldn't hurt to ask!

hopefully Neeld and Brown can play a role in convincing Thomas to move down the road

Seeing we've got Hogan, Clark, and Dawes, I'd much rather 2 star mids than 1 Lance Franklin.

Put Lance on the Ball and let him bomb them from 75 out.Prob solved.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
