Mac7 309 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 If we can't get Cook, what about Eugene Arocca? Don't know much about him but from what I remember very successful at north?
Cards13 9,117 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Ben Buckley, what is he doing now? John O'Niell? Probably to small fry for them but you can only aks.
Guest Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 George Costanza could bring the Penski file with him.He did work in admin at the Yankees! He has a background in sport!
KLV 1,772 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Not a bad idea Master!!! Who is a high profile MFC woman?????????????????????????????? I know a lot of you will snigger, but maybe we need to become the ladies club of choice! Imagine the determination they would bring to succeed in a male dominated industry. I honestly think it could work, but has to be the right woman and I dont know of a high profile lady MFC identity who fits this bill. Imagine if we got the highest female membership base, there is a lot of power there ready to be tapped. What better time to start when the blokes who have run it presently couldnt have brought the club any further to its knees than right now. Love the enthusiasm, but I don't think that women, would join a club, therefore barrack for a team, just because the CEO is a woman
Cards13 9,117 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 What would you know, let the men talk this one out please, in fact what are you doing the front bar shouldn't you be in the bistro with the other "Darls" darl? Love the enthusiasm, but I don't think that women, would join a club, therefore barrack for a team, just because the CEO is a woman
Bluey's Dad 3,419 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Ray Ellis - bring the man back! I'm told he doesn't want to go back.
jazza 1,323 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Is Joseph Gutnick still alive? yes, hes in iraq brokering peacework and enjoying life
daisycutter 30,023 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Julian Assange or Bob Katter - lock it in
Outside fifty 967 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 George Costanza could bring the Penski file with him. Costanza isn't Penski material! How about Homer Simpson? Background in just about everything including sport management and could entertain us at half time as the mascot.
rjay 25,428 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 We can attempt to get the AFL to campaign for Brian Cook but I don't see it happening. We need to look at whoever is number 2 at Geelong/Hawthorn/West Coast/Sydney. Even a club like Richmond have made terrific strides in the last few years and I don't think Brendan Gale has done it all by himself. Someone at a less successful club could actually have more understanding of our challenges. No more big names from strange places. We need people involved in successful football or football related areas with strong commercial backgrounds. Adrian Anderson is an interesting name and with pull at the AFL office could be handy. Except I doubt he was exactly best mates with Gil McLaughlin who will be running the game pretty soon. We could even appoint a woman. Geelong's current temporary CEO whilst Cook is away is a woman. That would shake up the boys club image a bit. Now that would be funny, but a bit of a commute from Buninyong.
MadAsHell 4,217 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Would love Swan or Cook but doubt either would happen. Tony Dodemaide has been CEO at WA Warriors & Vic Bushrangers throughout succesful periods for both of those organisations and if memory serves me correctly is a Dees fan, although I could have him confussed? Eugen Arocca as mentioned elsewhere could also be worth a look. Out of left field we could also look at the recently retired state politican Tim Holding. Very smart and succesful man who held portfolios in tourism and finance while in office and opposition.
pitmaster 3,592 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Eugene Arocca is absolutely worth a look and left message to that effect with the club today. He was overlooked for Gary Pert at Collingwood, but North Melbourne people speak very highly of him. Very capable, all that. Fell out with Brayshaw apparently, which I regard as another example of his suitability.

If Tim Holding comes anywhere near the Melbourne FC we might be a chance to get rescued of Mt Feathertop but other than that we would be stuffed.

Does the CEO have to be an MFC identity? As long as they do their job who cares..... I think your on to something here.... There's no reason why a woman couldn't become the best CEO in the business.....
stinga81 210 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Out of left field we could also look at the recently retired state politican Tim Holding. Very smart and succesful man who held portfolios in tourism and finance while in office and opposition. Very driven man and still young too in professional terms. Not the worst idea. Use to work in a his office for awhile,a very professional outfit. Goes for the Cats though . I wouldn't someone like Adrian Anderson. Showed mongrel in his role at AFL HQ, we need a bit of that MFC.
DEE fence 5,060 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Judging by the comments of his brother, I'd be surprised if Greg Healy is in the running - already has his hands full as a senior executive at Quicksilver. What about former MFC board member and television boss Ian Johnson? There may be some antipathy towards him for backing the merger, but he certainly has runs on the board in a cut-throat industry. Some 'Antipathy', you could measure it in gigatons, likewise Hassa, an excellent bloke but disastrous judgement endorsing the merger, no way should anyone of that crew ever ever come back, they made it clear they did not have the answers or the qualities for the job. Treat them with respect, no personal insults as they did what they thought was right but just not the right vision to manage the club.
DEE fence 5,060 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Tim Holding... former Police Minister? whose bright idea was that university degrees make for honest cops... no thanks, seen his management first hand, didn't like it. His particular style of politics has left him with limited personal credibility. Integrity first and foremost, ability to build consensus style of leadership, a sound business mind (but a good financial officer can help with that), able to listen, then able to talk. As soon as I can think of someone I'll post, personally I am not interested in the cult of celebrity so a proven media star is last on my list just being able to talk without sounding like a nong. Edit: I reread this and I sound too harsh on Tim and apologize, after all I am a dirty leftie ALP voter so I would still vote for the bloke but I just don't think a politician is the right way to go for the club, as his politics would divide the supporters. I think Hawthorn succeeded despite Jeff not because of him (but I have blinkers there as well.)
dees64 104 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Whilst CS divided our playing list & footy dept with tanking etc & was time for him to go.....from a finanial point of view he did a fairly good job We need a CEO who can galvanize the club & create the right culture
Ron Burgundy 8,588 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Ben Buckley, what is he doing now? John O'Niell? Probably to small fry for them but you can only aks. I have it on very good authority from a number of people at the ARU that John O'Neill is a buffoon of the very highest order. Absolutely hopeless. Almost remarkably so.

Absolutely hopeless. Almost remarkably so. Memory is not great but if I recall he was hugely successful in his first stint with ARU, they had a huge amount in there coffers at one point and he was leading the way. Second stint was not as successful. Throwing out ideas. Ben Buckley turned down the Roos?
dee-luded 2,959 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 the last time we searched, I think with the previous board led by was it Paul Gardiner, & they found us Paul McNamee, signed sealed & delivered??? I think the others short listed were Stuart fox, current Hawks CEO. & I think Mick Conlon may have been mentioned... anyone for tennis, cause we can't play cricket...
rjay 25,428 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 It will be someone in the AFL system now, we can't afford anyone without experience in the football industry. The AFL will have a big say in this appointment.

Second stint was not as successful. Throwing out ideas. Ben Buckley turned down the Roos? From what I've heard he got extremely lucky with being the head during a period which had an exceptional coach and player group - in short, any CEO would've been successful during that period. The sun and the moon essentially collided on his watch.Dumb luck really. Absolutely hopeless people manager with appalling judgement. Got found out badly in his second stint. All was exposed. Edit - iPad typos.
thaipantsman 180 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Boring thread. Sacked the wrong man. Who is boring, does not motivate, is a poor judge of cattle ie pederson Rodan gillies for Maloney rivers and petterd? GWS will be his last game....IF WE LOSE- Get serious. He's a lovely guy but should never have been given top guy at MFC.
