Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The problem is other people quote you a lot and if they have you on ignore they still have to read your predictable posts.

It's like having a table at a restaurant near the toilet; you try to ignore it, but every now and then a slight wiff of manure comes your way.

Stuie constantly comes into threads and directly engages in arguments with anyone who has an opposing view to him. Particularly when it comes to players past or present.

He is predictable to the point that I know roughly when he will come into a thread, and what he will post. The arguments always seem to degenerate into childish slanging matches and it is tiresome up to the point that is affecting my experience here.

He needs to grow up and stop with this constant badgering of other peoples opinions. Maybe offer up some original thoughts and ideas himself.

Ugh..... just can be bothered highlighting the double standards anymore...

Hardly casus belli.

It's all circular here BW... You disagree with someone here and they turn around and say "all you do is disagree", you explain yourself and then they get upset and say "I'm allowed my opnion jerk, all you do is name call you jerk", then the vultures like Biffen come in and sprout their speciality of only ever putting others down and inserting their "humour" without ever actually contributing, all the while a thread where all I've done is talk about footy matters to do with a past player and ask that personal rumours be left out denegrates into the usual name calling and sarcasm. It's the way of Demonland nowadays.

Wow, You're saying that the circumstances for our captain, having played about half a VFL game after a 3 month injury layoff

last week playing in the VFL come Round 1, are the same as Gysberts who played every game in the

NAB Cup/Challenge but did so poorly in the preseason that he wasnt selected for senior consideration?

Very astute observation.

No. I pointed out that plenty of good players, including our captain, played VFL today for various reasons, so it's hardly an all encompassing assessment of a given player. "Enough said"?

All I'm saying is (and I think I speak for a lot of other Demonland members here) that this place would be a lot more fun to read if you could restrain from petty arguments with posters you disagree with. It's getting old

I've talked footy matters here, you were the one who had a personal dig at me along the lines of "restaurant table near the toilet", so maybe have a look in the mirror before you go on your crusades.

And while you're at it, have a read of the last couple of pages of this thread and see who is doing the petty things, name calling, badgering and such.

he passed it long ago.

I haven't argued in this thread with ANY of these posters yet they come out and attack me personally while not even getting close to talking footy, and you want to talk about "restraining from being petty"?!

gysberts just doesnt have 'it'. that inner c^%T thats going to drive his competitiveness and hunger for success. watch him in the rooms after the bombers game last year. mclardy just pushes him out of the way to get to someone else. he just was standing around all sheepish. skilful junior but thatll be about it i reckon.

It means bugger all if you don't develop it either. I would have loved it if Neeld had given Gysberts a bit longer and cracked the whip on him to at least see what he could be. Pederson might end up being great for us, but more than likely he'll be a depth player who plays most weeks at Casey, whereas we had a very talented young mid on our list who could have benefited from a hard coach like Neeld.

But who knows? Maybe his attitude wasn't right, maybe there was personal problems, none of us really know. In the end, it's a shame it didn't work out, and here's hoping we win the gamble.

How do you know Neeld didn't crack the whip with him last year and just saw someone that didn't want to work hard?

That would explain why he was happy to trade someone with so much talent for what most of us thought was unders and why he couldn't get a game last year.

None of us know that. If that was the reason Neeld moved him on then I don't have a problem with it, as long as all avenues were exhausted. Still think the trade was a gamble, and would rather Neeld toughen up players than ship them out every time.

Sam Blease would have to be one that Neeld's cracking of the whip's worked for and we saw Nathan Jones take his game to another level and Jack Watts improve last year. I think we'll see more improvement from more players again this season.

We've got enough fringe VFL players, we desperately need talented mids and Gys is one of those, yet to be seen if he lives up to his potential but that's how it goes in AFL.

Doesn't have the tools to play a defensive game.

Doesn't have the tools to be a largely offensive mid either. Little hurt factor.

Like a few others we let go, not equipped for AFL footy.

As you say none of know for sure why he was shipped out but from the outside it looks like Neeld is moving players out who do not fit his requirements. After last years performances he would not have the time or inclination to toughen players up if they didn't show they were 100% committed to the cause, why waste his and our time?

At the start of last season again looking from the outside in it appeared that both Gys and Sammy Blease were well behind the pack as far as their fitness and training was concerned. Blease worked his butt off and it's a credit to him, he has the goods to be a top class player and now he has the work ethic to go with it. I would say he is a win for Neeld and one that he did toughen up.

I reckon there is a good chance that Gys will be playing local footy in 2014 unless he gets the message.

I agree rjay, and I reckon Blease is a good example of a player without work ethic who was able to turn it around. For the record I heard a rumour early last season from a source I trust that Blease was on the outer because the coaches thought he was lazy, but that there was a tangible change through the year. I'm all for having the coach toughen up players who aren't up to it in those areas, but I think it's also important to recognise when a player is either a lost cause, or at least not worth the effort required when there are 40 players on the list and time and resources are at a premium.

Even Jeremy howe has said gys struggled to finish a training session. Also heard he has very poor attitude and the players were pretty happy to see the back of him when he left especially Rohan Bail.

One melbourne storm player reckoned he was one of the worst weights trainers he'd seen.

Yeah fair enough. I don't know what happened inside the club, as do none of us, so could be the case. All I'm saying is that it was a shame it didn't work out with such a talented player.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
