Ok here's some stats...

Consider how horrible we were last year, then realize that:

Jack Watts averaged more kicks, handballs, and marks than Naitanui. In fact, over their careers Watts has averaged more disposals and marks than your messiah RR.

Considering Watts is not a ruckman and played most of the season in the backline last year, it's a bit silly to compare hitout and goal stats.

See post no.75. I can't add much more than that.

That's fine. But Id be confident in suggesting that the current 18 AFL coaches would not make the same choice.

Maybe, but you don't get to draft players 4 YEARS AFTER THEY'VE STARTED THEIR CAREERS.

I prefer Captain Foresight myself, particularly when it comes to recruiting footballers.

I'll take your "maybe" as a concession Stu.

You don't have any foresight RR, hence your obsession with the 2008 draft.

A little more grace in your concession speeches please, Stu.

I only give concessions to seniors, you may be senile but I don't think you qualify age wise yet.

Why do we have to get into a slanging match with someone who has a different view to our own.

We are talking about Footballers.

Nothing is absolute.

It is all a matter of opinion

Surely we can discuss varying views without personal attacks.

I'm passionate about the Dees and RR is passionate about NikNat, always tends to get a little heated.

What's more, why does someone's preference for a certain player automatically mean they "don't rate" the other one?

I like Watts. But that's never been the question.

Same here with NikNat. I think he'll be a great player, but I think Watts will be too. They're just developing differently, one is a physical freak who is still learning footy smarts and skills, and the other has the smarts and skills but is still developing physically. IMO they will have equal impact to their clubs over the course of their whole careers.

Don't know if agree with this, RR.

And, as an aside, I reckon Watts is more likely to be AA this year than NikNat - just a hunch obviously.

Well Watts is not starting the year with a serious injury RB

That might give him a walk up start.

Yeah, but Watts doesn't have a bunch of selectors that want to bear his children like NicNat does, so it'll balance out.

But the MFC "supporters" that continually have digs at him will balance that out a bit too...

How is it even an argument who is better? Naitanui is the current starting AA ruckman and Watts has achieved so far pretty much nothing. Thems the facts.

His selection was dubious and not merited.

According to you but not to a host of astute football observers.

Watch the entire Eagles organization lift both on and off the field when he returns.

He's a very good player RR, but Jacobs deserved AA that year.

Let's just let him play.

And we can have this pointless argument AFTER some football has been played.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

    TRAINING: Wednesday 11th December 2024

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

Some veteran Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you the following observations from another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
