he was ok today, im a believer that him watts, dunn, nicho etc all make one error a game that costs us big time

He has physical presence, he has speed, but nothing above the shoulders.

Okay, I'm going to assume you did actually watch the game in order to create a thread about his performance.

1. It's third round of NAB Cup. Where he's at is a practice match.

2. He suffered a nasty knock last week from which he is possibly still feeling some effects.

3. We have so many greater concerns than Frawley, who remains our best defender.

4. If we're going to dwell on today, how many goals were actually kicked on him?

I must've been watching a different game because I thought he was good. Nothing special and I think he made a couple of errors but one on one he beat most of his opponents.

Im not just talking about todays game, he has gone backwards to point where i get nervous when the ball is in his hands.

Didn't see today's game, but he is clearly not the player he was 2 years ago which isn't good. He may not be our biggest problem but I want him to be the dominant full back in the comp he looked he was going to become, or already was 2 years ago. Obviously doesn't help when the ball is coming in every minute or two though.

This is ridiculous! Gents if you have an inefficient midfield that can't get their hands on the ball first, it doesn't matter if you had Hawthorns or Sydney's backs they would trouble immensely!.. If you want Frawley back to his best, give him a bloody chance to man up on his man without it coming in every which way from Sunday. I'm guessing a lot of the "landers" never played as a back men!. If you want a winning team it starts with a good ruck men and quality mids to clear the ball!, which is why we have sucked for years and will continue until it is fixed!

There is nothing worse than someone who starts a thread in order to be derogatory about a player, but gives absolutely nothing in their critique. It's almost like you hope others will provide the analysis that you can't.

Frawley did well defensively, but does make poor decisions - sometimes. He's very quick, tough, and athletic, but can infringe and will never be a Matty Scarlett, who was a genius in that he always made the right choice. Frawley is a very valuable player.

His decision making is not as good as some posters here suggest. Frawley is capable of becoming one of the competitions best backs...

Frawley is already one of the competitions best backs, he's just not Scarlett or Fletcher. Not many are.

Watching a WC game last season when things weren't going their way, the defence was under a lot of pressure and Glass who has been a top line defender for a long time had the same brain fades.

Frawley hasn't been able to give us the run and carry he did in the AA year but the game has changed, don't blame him for that.

James Frawley deserves more kudos from the media, from AFL aficionados, from every footy follower.

He rarely gets beaten.

Has survived an avalanche of inside 50s over the last five years that would have broken many a defender, remains strong, committed and brave.

ALWAYS beats the Riewoltds.

Our lazy (inept?) midfield rarely give him support - Jonesy excused.

I can put up with the occasional brain fade from Frawley, but can't stand it when he is kicking in, he just takes to long and opposition set up their press while he is making a decision on who to kick it too.He frustrates me and I spend most of my time yelling at the TV for him to hurry up. Watts and Dunn should be designated to kick in.

Other then this aspect of his game I like his work and IMO I would prefer he take the second best forward and leave the best to T Mcdonald.

I hate posts like this. You can't be bothered - or just can't - pinpoint the real issue, so you just assassinate his character instead, when you have no idea if he has a big head or not. Classic keyboard hero behaviour.

In fairness to Riewoldt he spent most of the second half on the bench.
