You have to wonder what the point of even having this game is... aren't practice matches supposed to be so your team can some MATCH PRACTICE in? I would say 15-16 or even more of our best 22 are not out going to be out there, what the hell are they doing sidelining so many players? It has been a long time since I've seen such a depleted squad, now I'm glad its not on TV because we will surely get absolutely pumped

there is obviously an obvious difference when discussing almost an entire side not fielding vs the playing history of one player OBVIOUSLY by your rationale everybody not playing today has the opportunity to trot out the 'interrupted preseason' excuse later in the season. You're talking about 2 completely different things OBVIOUSLY

Dear Captain Obvious,

If you are a player who has not enjoyed the benefit of a full pre-season would it not be difficult to cement a role/spot/position in a team who has?

Would it also be plausible that one's match fitness might also be hindered?

You are the one suggesting that players like Tapscott are using their interrupted pre-seasons as an excuse for not performing well.

Yours Sincerely,

Someone who actually has a concept of the importance of a full pre-season for individual players

Here's hoping hogan kicks 10 and announces to the world that the demons are ready to pack out the 'g' once again.

Also if he does 5aa will have no choice but to mention a melbourne player.

5aa saying the midfield engine room is the greatest weakness. Hard to argue. No mention of Viney or Toumpas coming through however.

Ha! 5aa saying our best mids don't stack up to Port's. Ok our mids aren't great but Port's are woeful.

I nearly spat my drink out when they were talking about that! They couldn't even name 5 midfielders! Then they threw in Ebert and chad Wingard...

Cheers for that I was wondering what was going on. I thought those drinkwalkers broke into the commentary box.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
