MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

In her opinion piece in today’s Age, Caroline Wilson states that “Melbourne worked hard to lose games of football that year” (being 2009), and that “Melbourne manipulated football results in 2009”. The information provided by the AFL to Melbourne Football Club after its 7 month investigation does not support either of these allegations.

Wilson also lists 5 points that she says forms part of MFC’s “unofficial defence”, and concludes these “stated excuses” are “flimsy, irrelevant and in some cases childish”. In fact not one of these points has been raised in the submission made by the MFC to the AFL, and in any hearing before the AFL Commission none will form part of our defence.

So the key points of Wilson’s opinion piece are just plain wrong - but as we all know in football, everyone’s entitled to their opinion.

We will continue to keep our members and supporters updated of developments.

Just released. About time. Good stuff.

Well done Don! Good to hear a response from the club.

Well done to the President, good to see a reply to the rubbish being published.

About time.

Finally good to see all the garbage that comes out of her head has been complete crap and backed by reports from the AFL.

She needs to start looking for a new job, because she's woeful as a journo.

Just perfect.

Its about time some one in an official position came out and told CARO to shove it where the sun don't shine.

I buy the Age only because they are a Melbourne sponsor and get a good deal.

I must say that I would prefer to get the HUN if I got a similar deal.

She and her apprentices have dragged this once great newspaper down to nothing more than Gutter Journalism.

Fairfax just has to get rid of her.

All of her stories are Opinion Pieces because she hasn't facts to back anything she writes.

Is Don

Is Good

Watch the witch whine

Nice to see the club fending off and jabbing.

Must be getting very close to stumps i'd say

Well done don!! I always hear the eddie mguire and Jeff Kennett come out at all cost to defend there clubs and I always admired that passion. And here I was thinking we are going to just cop it from the media.. suck on that caro!

Wow. I didn't expect that. Good one Don.

This has only just begun, now the MFC can speak.

Sleep tight Wilson. It is obvious you have not a clue to the actual dealings.

Nice quick response and will hopefully be picked up by the Age's competitors!

So why isnt she being sued?

who says she won't be, esp if she doesn't print a retraction in tomorrow's rag

I wonder if they publish this in the Fairfax Media.

My experience is that the Age and Sydney Morning Herald are very protective of their staff. They will on occasion allow some criticism but I've noticed that when this happens they will conveniently find a fluffy letter of support or two (often looking quite contrived) by way of attempted balance.

Great work from Don. I must admit I was somewhat peeved about Garry Lyon not standing up to the shrew on Footy Classified when she took a swipe at us last Thursday. It was even better coming right from the top.

I reckon our Beaks told G Lyon to cool it last week.

He was fairly quiet for the whole show.

Tomorrow night could be very different.

Even KB & Jon Ralph thought ahe needed a chill pill this morning.

best response by the club to any media in a very long time SO STICK THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT CARO NAH NAH

On Ya Don!!! Stick it up the shrew!

Maybe it was all part of the plan...Wait for the right moment.

Actually, Caro's mental descent is all part of Cameron Schwab's plan to fix our low membership by engineering an MFC baby boom nine months after we finally get off this farcical investigation without charge.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
