2013 Phantom Drafts

Still leaves Billings!

Can't see it, but then again who thought Grundy would drop down to what was it, 18 last year.

I'm really interested to see what we do, with who's available. As someone posted earlier I wouldn't be surprised if we went for Acres or another pick we have not been linked to, even Dummont maybe. The only real clue we get from Taylor is that we are making our own judgement and won't be influenced by the conventional wisdom of the day. Read that as maybe the media and draft experts could be off the mark.

Talk that the Saints might be keen on Scharenberg at pick 3. Assuming that the Dogs will take Bontempelli at 4, GC with KK at 5, Pies seem to be set on Aish at 6 (if Scharenberg is gone) and Brisbane with Freeman, McCarthy and Salem all in the mix for them at 7. Where does that leave Billings? could he make it to us at 9? I assume we would take him and run in this unlikely scenario?

Can't see that happening but would be over the moon Billings in a heart beat have liked him since 2012 when he was underage in the TAC

Its is not long now fellow Demonlanders. I am sure that who Taylor, Viney and Roos select will be a well-informed and astute choice that will surprise many Demonlanders and football commentators.

Given Taylor's pedigree you would expect an astute and thorough choice and Todd seemed to do quite a good job last year. There seems a lot of faith that Roos will wave a wand and that we will definitely get Pick 9 right. Historically that can't be further from the truth. Sydney's record in the 8-16 range was absolutely atrocious when Roos was at the helm.

Herald sun has freeman sliding down to 15 as he needs to tidy up his kicking.

Has us taking Salem at 9.

I think (unless someone slides) we will go Salem. God knows we need some great kicks in the midfield esp now Aaron has hung up the boots.

Don't mind the thought of Viney, cross, michie and jones feeding watts, toump and Salem and kicking it down the throat of our big boys.

I always remember Richmond were about to take casissi and baulked

it threw the next 3 teams picking into a frenzy as they quickly had to rethink

wonder if this year picks 1-8 will bring up a furphy that will surprise the draft and make teams do a quick switcheroo and leave an unexpected player at 9

r'oos history says he will want an athlete

btw lewis taylor has been in moonboot for a while

The Hun has us taking Salem but the Age still has us taking Freeman. Either will work for us.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
