I feel sorry for Joel Macdonald

Looks he will be the one who will cop the brunt of the disgruntled 'supporters' now that the aforementioned Cook, Morton and Gusberts aren't here. Hopefully Barty comes good to take some heat, although if Rodan, Peterson and Byrnes aren't in line for the Brownlow they may also cop the rough end of the stick around here......

Edit: apparently I can't spell 'Stick'

You know I was trying to work out who would be the new whipping boy, you've got it in one. At least we can say he gives it a crack and enjoys the body contact.

I managed to pop in for 45 minutes this morning on my way back to the office, not much happening when I went past.

Strauss and Garland running some pretty quick laps together

Davey running laps on his own

Mitch Clark was out there briefly didnt see him do any running but may have done that before I got there

Grimes and Frawley did some run throughs together then got involved in the lap running (Session 1 I know but Grimes looks super fit, Frawley was stretching to keep up with him at times)

Gawn and Spencer running together, Gawn looks the fittest I have seen him look, at one point they did a bit of kick to kick, not the most skilled session thats for sure! :-)

Fitzpatrick was running on his own, doing laps and sprints

Dunn & Watts did some warm up laps together then some run throughs having their running action filmed, where about to start laps when I left.

For quick notes, Davey still seems to run with a limp, looks like he will play his career out that way. Grimes was really vocal even with only 10 of them out there. Everytime a group ran past he would encourage them to run harder and faster and to keep it up.

To me it looked like they were assessing their fitness levels on these laps as mentioned in other posts and by the club.

Great to see Mitch Clark out there even though briefly and for a bloke that hasnt been allowed to run until now looks in pretty good shape.

I left just after 11 so maybe someone hung around longer than me and saw some other players come out as there was about half dozen people watching.

New season cant come quick enough! Get some hope back!

dont think so would be pretty hard to do that at AAMI, there was other people exercising, ladies walking through with Prams, I was just sitting on the fence 20 metres away and no one said anything, no coaches were out there just misson.

Well at 10:56am, MFC tweeted this: "no open training today sorry guys!"

If you go past AAMI and they are training, you can stop and watch any session from the fence, done it heaps of times, (when they do something for a game like middle setup, it is hidden away inside AAMI Park itself) but you will get looked at if you are constantly filming or taking notes

Maybe they meant that the majority weren't training so no one would waste a trip????

Just sayin'

Just for clarification, do you mean Gosch's Paddock when you say AAMI, or do you actually mean within the stadium?

Got a text asking me to come down to watch on Thursday. Good initiative by the MFC

Just got one too .

Very nice.

Unity wins games.

I went past a 9.30am and only saw Joel McDonald, James Sellar and Dunny walking towards the ground. They all had paperwork in hand, I'm guessing they had a fairly early meeting. Sellar looked big !!

I'd take that to mean "if you're looking to come down & watch the majority of the team go through a training session, you're going to be disappointed as some players with filter through doing an odd variety of mostly runs & a little bit of skills."

Is anyone going to training this Thursday? Being in Perth at the moment I can't get there so I'd love hear some reports!

Now the word is out, I'm sure you'll receive a plethora of reports.

This is the most exciting part of any supporters year.

Normally it lasts about 4 months then goes down hill rapidly.

Not this season though onwards and upwards

Just a mere hurdle to get over. Wheres' the commitment!???

Of course I would get down there myself, but ......... ;)

I hope they hand over mug shots at training, might struggle to ID any, Now morton is gonesky,he was easy to pick.

He was the one tumbling A over T, across the grass, after a stiff breeze blew over the ground.

No, never heard of it and of course never indulge in it myself ;-)

........

So I guess the doomsdayers will start saying that "Davey is not joining in.....means a rift ....etc etc" Where is that Misfit guy from Dumbitriou's staff?

Did the ladies with prams show more intensity than some of our recent delistings used to?

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
