Twelve months ago, Gawny was really working hard through pre-season.  As a guy who’s 208 centimetres tall, he has great versatility, great running ability, and is very coachable.  Unfortunately, as we know, he had his knee injury, and required his second knee reconstruction.  His attitude and his positiveness towards this injury has been outstanding.  He’s been - like Pickles - extremely diligent with his recovery.  He’s gone above and beyond what the Club’s expected of him, not only with his rehab and his recovery, but with his involvements with the Club - his DeeTV, and his capacity to work with other players and try and get the best out of the whole Club, not just himself.  His body has completely changed from the way it looked twelve months ago, he’s in a position where he’ll be able to start full training when we come back, and already he’s - we’d estimate - thirty per cent ahead of where he was at this time last pre-season.  So, he’s really set himself up this year to hopefully play some good AFL footy in the future. - Aaron Greaves (midfield development coach) melbournefc.com.au

Cmon Aaron, whats your real opinion lol ?

Talk about GafAWNing lol.

Seriously though he would be a wonder if he can reach his potential ...his reach IS pretty high after all. Hope his knees hold together.

That is the $64 question bb.

21 this December and already has had 2 serious knee reconstruction does not give me much confidence.

In the doubtful class for me unfortunately find it hard to see a long AFL career for Max unfortunately.

Still under 21 - 208 cm and close to 110 kgm, and remarkably agile for his size.

Not too many of those around.

IF his knees hold up he will be a huge asset, especially with the new ruck rules. Drooling with anticipation.

Only 4 games in his debut year, but showed a lot of athleticism for a big man (one enormous blooper excepted).

Go Max.

Amazing coordination for a guy his size and age. Makes Spencer (who has a few years on him) look ridiculous.

i seriously doubt that there is room for both, though I guess they may hang on to both as insurance for each other injury wise. For what it is worth, probably nothing, I would trade Spencer this trade period to someone desperate for a ruckman. How about Saints for Ray?

Would do that in a heartbeat though I can't see how Spencer would have any kind of value to be honest, hasn't done much at all really.

If he doesn't make it as an AFL player (and I sure hope he will) he already has the attributes to be an excellent stand up comedian!

Wasn't it Max's antics that helped drive Tom $ from our door???

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
