Lol here we go again... 7 posts and posting rumors... Bless your little hearts Demonland

it could be...it mightnt be.

But as a question. Why do you not usppose the FD have spoken to players about the roles they intend for them and the paths taken etc.

Watts was recuited as a KPF. Why would he not wind up back there after his apprenticeship around the ground ?

Is as plausible as anything

Not saying it's not plausible that it may happen... Just think the story of Watts telling a total stranger, before preseason training, what role he'll be playing in 9 months time is a little far fetched for me.

Watts interview on the MFC website states he will be training with the backs over pre-season.

Stu this is where you fail a little. I reckon it's really easy to tell who's being plausible and who comes on here making stuff up. It's one of the easiest things to do on the net. Your gut tells you. You get a feel for it. This posters wasn't crapping on. They had no reason to make up something as innocuous as what was posted. I expect Watts to play down back all of next season, but it's feasible Jack is hoping he may get time up forward later in the year.

But as I said, the poster has nothing to gain on this one. I posed about 10 questions and there was one where they thought they could help. Good on them.

There is the "issue" stuie (and to an extent myself) had with the post. Maybe the words were just poorly chosen (?), but it was a pretty definitive statement with regards to what Jack said to him "will start down back next year and will then be moved back into the forward line later in the season."

Anyone else think we should chase Goddard hard, not only because his a great player but, team him up with Watts over preseason to show him what it takes to be an elite versatile player?

Exactly my point. I expect Jack will play forward sometime soon, Jack himself probably does too, but I would doubt he's already been told he'll be playing forward halfway through next season at this stage.

Id be disappointed if we didnt sound him out. Im sure the club will if they consider him a fit.

But I'd put that down to interpretation. Said poster says to Watts, "so you won't play forward at all ?", to wit Watts replies, "not to begin with, but maybe later in the year".

Seriously, you guys have poor acumen.

Anyway, read it the way you want.

Exactly - it's the same point as I was making in the thread where everyone was wailing about Trengove's comments about reality checks or whatever it was. You hear the answer the player gives but you don't hear what question he was asked, and it's when people fail to back-calculate the question that they get the complete end of the stick.

Fair enough fellas, I see your point. If it's a case of Watts just saying he may go forward at some stage then that's fine, just seemed to me like the poster was saying Neeld had told Watts about where he'd be in 9 months time when we've not even started pre-season training.

We simply read the words that he wrote... i.e., a definitive statement, not a "what if" comment. We are reading what is written in the post... you are reading what you want, into it.

Finally got the chance to listen to the podcast and the first word that came to mind is a favourite of MNs - Slick. It's going to be a very valuable asset.

And now back to the thread...

I enjoyed listening to the pod-ed version. Neeld's interview skills have developed over the course of the season. Which reminds me that he is just completing his first year as a head coach, and thus still learning every aspect of the job.

I had thought that Craig might be a bigger presence in the media to take the pressure off Neeld (I imagine it is a massive burden/distraction for a senior coach) but I trust that they are constantly talking about every aspect of the job.

Some have an ability to peel back layers to make sense of things.

Others don't. In fact, most don't.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
