He just lives in the past gets all his information from the newspapers and regurgitates as 'things he has heard". Not everything makes the newspapers, some of us online share a few thoughts now and again on choosen topics - not nearly every bloody thread on the site like his type - quite amusing really.

At the end of the day I would just like to see the Dees assist Liam as much as they can - its up to Port what they want to do. But that should not stop us offering a quality AFL standard player for a quality young player.

First we put the offer to Jacobs. (full-stop) If he agrees to come back to Victoria for 3-4 years on reasonable dollars say $300-400K - we have a deal.

Then we put the offer to Port - if Port dont accept it thats their problem not ours. We take Jacobs in the pre-season - no big deal to us. We have our man.

I hope he plays again also but I doubt Liam will be playing for any AFL side next year even if he wins his court case. He has other priorities he will need to deal with before he can concentrate on Football. I hope when he does get it sorted he comes back to Melbourne.

We offer up Liam if they dont take it - fine we will get Jacobs anyway assuming we put the right deal to him and he accepts. We offer Jacobs what Liam was getting paid maybe plus some, all Ive heard all year is we have a war chest and a ton of salary cap room. So spend it on a 20YO top quality ex top 20 draft pick - oh did I mention he is Victorian and wants to come home.

What choice have Port got? No we wont accept the trade, we will send him to the PSD - OK we say - you do that. We secure our man - there man is still unsigned. That would then become there problem. We have done the right thing by Liam assist him to play AFL football and PORT said NO.

Jurrah only has trade value if other clubs will take him and they won't. Port can take Jurrah with pick 100 in the Rookie draft. We'd have to use pick 3 in the PSD to take Jacobs. If we want a trade we'll have to offer something more equitable - otherwise they'll just say - go ahead draft him.

So they have plenty of choices because multiple clubs are seeking his services as opposed to Jurrah. BJ isn't a free agent so you can't simply put money before him to lure him to the Dees; you have to be able to work out a trade with Port Adelaide rather than the player himself.

Yes it is a good deal - I agree with you - try to sell the club to Jacobs and try to do a proper deal with Port and if not take him in the PSD. Jurrah is a non-factor.

Its naive to think that Jacobs manger wont attempt to get him the best deal he can. (full-stop) Our job is to get the best deal on the table and offer him a role he wants to play. We are probably the closest team in the league for him to be a walk up start - his manger might like that he might like that. Certainty is always good in football negotiations - think Mitch Clark.
