3 Years for Jamar and McKenzie - seriously?

All I can think is "thank the Lord (or whoever) that the club isn't a democracy ruled by the majority votes of posters from here". We would have NO players and NO coaching staff....all sacked at some stage over the past year or so.

Jamar is crap

He is the worst ruckman in the league Does nothing and should have been shown the door

Giving him 3 years is symptomatic of this club and its inability to make hard decisions

Just appalling !!!! I wont have to worry though he will retire injured next year.

Jamar is on Nick Maxwell's level as a ruckman.

Hard to justify giving Jamar a 3 year deal off the back of this year.

Stef Martin influenced games a lot more in the ruck when he was up and running.

Jamar was ranked second in the league for average hitouts per game this year (32.4, behind only Sandilands).

Granted, he was down in the other stats, but ultimately, he is judged on his ruck work.

If you are a ruckman who averages second in the league for hitouts in a 'down' year, you would think that you are worth a new contract.

No point being a gun tap ruckman when you are uselss around the ground.

In his last 6 games, Jamar taken a massive 8 Marks

He kicked the ball 14 times... Yes, over 6 weeks football.

Dean Cox averages near 10 kicks a game and 6 marks a game.

Jamar might be a good tap ruckman, but he is very poor around the ground.

It would help if he made himself a target at least.

That makes Spencer look a lot better

I suppose we are all hoping Jamar comes good, averaging 1 mark a game isn't good enough.

Mckenzie is a good tagger , but has to go to the next level now and become more offensive.

All he has to do DZ is learn how to kick that would improve his offence from zero to good overnight.

Easy thing to say I know and lots of players never improve their kicking.

I agree that he needs to do more around the ground. It will be interesting to see how he is used next year. But I still rate him as a ruckman.

I think that MIsson has the experience and credentials to advise on whether Jamar can keep going for three more years. If Misson gives the all clear, then I'll trust his judgement.

I want to add my support to this Post. I actually think JuniorMac also got it right when he said that both these guys have the Great Bloke attribute.

This will be a very interesting post to look at again in 2015. I'm betting 3 years will definitley be 1 too many for Jamar and McKenzie will be on the fringes which will possible be acceptable because he's a Great Bloke???

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
