However, Tim Harrington is still employed by MFC.

Yeah, in charge of list management. Nothing to do with recruiting. Not sure what your point is here.......

mistake number 26 under Bailey and one of Barry Prendergasts many "what was I thinking" moments

move on to 2012 draft and hope we "learn" our lesson

Dayle Gartlett - huge talent, skilled, great Rioli like goal kicking ability ... but had some off field concerns. GET HIM anyway.

As much as we need a player like Garlett the MFC will not take him and continue there trend on skinny school boys who are injured and have no backbone.

A player like this will add the x factor we need, he oozes with it.

I am confused!

Are you saying the MFC won't pick him but you would in spite of being

" skinny school boys who are injured and have no backbone."

I am saying due to MFC having a trend of picking up skinny school boys with/are prone to injuries that they will not take Garlett as he doesn't always behave.

TH manages the players list, he worked alongside BP to help oversee the ins and outs of players to the club. He sits in on all the recruiting meetings and contributed to the list strategies under BP and Bailey. He's about the last remaining of the significant contributors during that time, is my point.

WC will hope to hell that Garlett falls to their pick, wouldn't be suprised if they tried to trade for a lower pick. WA kid who would fit in nicely in their current team.

Watch the stories on Garlett start coming out.

Olisik give up the acid it is making you paranoid, you are blowing the Darling thing way out, as other have said there were a lot of other factors without conspiracy which resulted in Darling falling down the pecking order.

I do not disagree with you nutbean.

It just shows how poor our recruiting has been for a long period.

If you look at the selections over the last dozen years the first round selections have been very ordinary

Your WCE mates are IMO only looking at an individual year.

In total we have been a disaster.

I am a firm believer that its not the recruiting but that we have never developed the recruits - there are plenty examples of skinny recruits who have filled out, instant success stories and players who have developed from good to really good to star material. It is for this reason I think that Neeld has come in and said Moloney/Green/Davey-we are not accepting half arsed any more - over a period of time players will understand the required level and always be challenged to continually strive to be better (I should live so long !)

Whichever way you slice it, poor recruiting or poor development, the end result has been the same - we have a lot recruits over a long period that have generally not made the grade and now we are devoid of the necessary mid to older range players to usher in the youth.

I find it difficult to constantly blame the "Development Problem"

But you are correct the end result is a crap list

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
