Interesting to see where he ends up and contract amount and duration. He is obviously seeking one last good payday.

Can be a solid clearance player. Not very creative with disposal generally preferring to bang it long. Average overhead. Run and spread is average at best for an AFL mid which limits defensive side of game.

Wherever he ends up he will have to drop the kgs to try and run out quarters and games better.

Do you want to set up a retirement home for all of them? Green made his own choice as far as we know. Jurrah was always going to be Iffy and Moloney's form this year didn't warrant an extension. Simple as that. It's always a bit sad to see good people go but that's the nature of AFL football. Particularly in the case of successful teams. No room for sentiment. It doesn't contribute to premiership points. Bring on the new Dees of 2013.

This is pretty disappointing on a number of levels.

Firstly, Brent clearly checked out after not being put in a leadership position, and was not emotionally there for the whole year. As an elite, professional sportsperson, that is pathetic.

Secondly, as a result of this, he has diminished his own value in the marketplace. That affects us too.

Whether it is poor man management by Neeld and the FD is a matter of conjecture. One one reading, Moloney didn't "buy in", so he should "buy out". On another reading, we have mismanaged a solid, B+ midfielder and leave our list even more vulnerable than we started.

It's all very well to say that the clean out was always coming, but let's face it, when Neeld started, we had certain names in the "gun", and Moloney wasn't near the top if that list.

I cant help but think he'll slot into the engine room at another club and be back to his 2010 form

Neeld seems to prefer "jack of all trades, master of none" like Bail and others over a clearance King like Beamer.

I hope Neelds game plan is worth all of this this pain becasue there goes another 100+ games of experience from our team!

Strange comment given that Brent prettymuch ran our midfield in 2010, 2011.

The fact that he was dropped for the last three rounds indicates that Neeld wants him gone. Lets thank Brent for all that he has done for the club - which is more than some give him credit for. its obvious that our future requires some big changes.

He sure did and good on him but that is now in the past and the club needs to look at the future. 2012 for Brent was being dumped from the leadership group but that does not mean he can't be a leader on the field. Name one game this year that Brent showed the same guts, passion and determination he has shown in previous years??

To me from the outside looking in, Brent was walking around with a big chip on his shoulder this year and I would much rather blokes wearing red and blue who wan't to play for the club instead of sooking because they were dropped.

He was certainly near the top of the list by the end of the season.

I get worried when a team like ours with a basically non functioning midfield gets rid of an ok midfielder in his day I guess. But hopefully we will find better players to replace?

Sylvia has looked good in the midfield in the last few games so he must be keen for a new contract.

Some touch decisions need to be made no doubt, so thanks for the years Brent.

BTW - there was a post on facebook from someone who claimed to know Brent saying that 'if we were treated by our employer the way Brent has been, then we'd leave too.'

Watts sulked after the boxing camp because it was to tough, James Mcdonald told him to harden up as he was a professional footballer. Now the two of them are gone.

Win / win all round imo. Brent hasn't contributed a cracker on the field this year, and it's pretty obvious that his head and heart have been elsewhere. It's highly doubtful that this would change in 2013, so we are better off freeing up a spot on our list and creating a bit more salary cap room. If Brent makes a go of it at another club, then good luck to him, but imo he is too 'one dimensional' to be more than a plodder in today's midfield.

You see it this way, im pretty sure Brent got told to gagf because he wasnt buying in the same as Jones, Mcdonald, Grimes, Trengove.....even Blease and Sylvia seemed to get the message this year, thats the only explanation to his meteoric fall from grace i can see

just think of all the dollars we have to buy in some positive culture!

I personally think Brent and his bully antics attributed to our teams poor culture. Imagine having someone pointing and yelling at u at work all day.

We have not been a successful side at all since he has been a part of the MFC and I don't think that its a coincidence. Hopefully now his gone things can change for the better.
