How're you watching it? Online or TV?

Online, a few games a week get put on TV, but i've never seen Melbourne games. It's always Collingwood, Essendon, and Carlton who get the airtime over here.

The Los Angeles Dodgers. There was an old song written about the Dodgers back in the day with the line "They may be bums, but they're my bums." That's how I feel about the current Demons team. They're not doing too good, but dammit I love em.

Nice.

At least the Dodgers are going a bit better these days. You'd be getting a bit of joy watching Kemp play. Superstar.

Yeah, they're doing surprisingly well this season. It's been a long few years for Dodger fans.

No idea why I chose the Spurs but such is life.

Add to that the not so successful Buffalo Bills in the NFL and NY Knicks in the NBA.

Just can't seem to pick em right...

I live in Canada and I think we get the same broadcast deals. We're lucky to get one Dees game a season on live TV. Online is the way to go.

I sincerely hope you weren't a fan in the 80s. Two of the most heartbreaking super bowl loses, haha

I think i've got an odd thing about picking favorite teams, that tend to not be overly successful. My favorite NFL team hasn't won an NFL championship (they did win one championship in a now defunct league though!) My favorite soccer team is Tottenham Hotspur who i've supported for 13 years now and haven't seen them win anything. My favorite baseball team hasn't won anything since the year after I was born...I'm accustomed to pain.

if that is the case can you do us a favour and support Collingwood for a while ;)

Welcome aboard! Great to see the club send you that poster.

So that would suggest you're a Clippers fan too then?

Haha no, Portland Trailblazers...who haven't won anything in my lifetime...I'm beginning to think I might be a masochist.

Welcome AmericanDemon! glad to have you aboard the pain train. At least we can say we've won the 4 most premierships in the league (12) even if the last one was in 1964. Also we have won the most premierships within 7 yrs, I think something like 6 flags in 7 years.

Welcome aboard!

Barracking for the Dees is a tough gig, its not for the faint hearted.

Great stuff, spread the word.

Hey all, i'm an American footy fan, and last year, I decided to support the Demons. Partially because I am a fan of Hamish and Andy, and heard Hamish was a Dees supporter, but more so, because of the rich history of the club, Jim Stynes, and a few players I really liked. I was so pumped to watch my first game as a Dees fan, I woke up at 3 AM to watch Melbourne get thumped by West Coast, haha not a very good start to me being a Demons fan.

So at the time I became a fan, I sent an email to the Demons, asking a question about something related to the club. Anyway, I never heard back from them, till earlier this month. I got an email back from a representative of the club, who thanked me for my support of the club, and said that to make up for a slow reply, they sent me this. Got here today, and I'm way excited. It made me love the club even more. I honestly didn't even expect to hear back from them, let alone have them offer to send me something. Sorry if this post was kind of stupid, I just wanted to share my excitement with someone, and i'm the only AFL fan I know in my state haha.

Welcome AD and you'll be more welcome from me if you also go for the San Francisco 49ers.

I received the same picture from the club as part of my sponsorship package and I gave it to my 7 year old grandson who gleefully accepted it and it now sits in his room above his bed.

Perhaps one day it will be a collector's item.

Welcome AD! Lived in Colorado for about 2 years and a little time in Arkansas (.... looonnnggg story!). Great to see you are a Dees fan and found the forum.

Haha yeah, My girlfriend still asks if i'll be getting up in the middle of the night to watch rugby? But she does know I support the Demons, just has the wrong sport, I guess that's something right?

Welcome aboard AD

I have two small pieces of advice from a supporter of 52 years.

- Buy a recorder for future games

- Stay in bed with the Girl friend

The results will be much better all round that way.

Prepare to have you character built.

AD you think u have it bad, I've followed the dees for over 30 years, the rams in the NFL and Bolton in English football and rangers in the Scottish league :)

Welcome to the Dees!

Welcome aboard American Demon .

A few unwritten rules ...

1 - Learn to snow ski

2 - Drink Chardonnay

3 - Get yourself a Range Rover

4 - Practice phrases such as "Who's that big chap in the no.9 geurnsey ?

5 - Talk about 'Our Window of Opportunity' . It's currently 2015 . Next year it will be 2016 .

6 - If you have any sport(s) jackets , gets some leather patches on the elbows .

Cheers

Try the ballet, the theatre or Music mate

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

The Demons hit the road in Round 8, heading to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. With momentum building, the Dees will be aiming for a third straight victory to keep their season revival on course. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
