You mean West Bolton United Wanderers......... :P

Ha ha, a tonne of my mates and wife are hammers fans and they are all up and about especially after the crap I have given them about stealing all Bolton's old players and manager and then we get relegated I expect a long year of ribbin off them.

Ha ! Wasn't aware of that although obviously knew about Sam Allardyce and his years at Bolton . Your blokes punched well above their weight for quite some time but it's awfully difficult to sustain it when it's not a level playing field . The 'Money' clubs are nearly always going to dominate and now there's about 7 or 8 of them (if you count Spurs and Newcastle) .

I'm more a fan of the EPL rather than being a fanatical Hammers fan . Watch the big games and hope that West Ham can finish mid table or slightly better . Be interesting to see how West Ham fare if they snag the Olympic stadium .

The Championship is terrific to watch as well . Bolton should bounce back well , but there's no guarantees .

Upton park is a amazing ground, I think if they move they will struggle to intimidate sides as much.

They will be looking at the $'s . Might attract a big benefactor as well .

There's 2 league's within the one league and getting into the top echelon requires big bucks . West Ham could only get bigger if they got that stadium . Might upset the hard core fans for a time but the alternative is to often try to avoid relegation or play in the championship .

It's worth a punt . Big upside .

Posted

I thought the move was sorted...?

It's not done yet unless I've missed the latest .......possibly a decision by October ?

Van Persie to Man United is huge!

Could be a title-winning signing.

$30 million transfer fee I heard this morning. Big move.

Posted

Van Persie is pretty much the best striker in the world, him up front with Hernandez and Rooney playing Scholes central striker role I reckon they will hammer this comp.

Posted (edited)

In the end the Robin van Persie transfer fee was worth nearly $36 million (AUD) . He's getting paid $298,000 per week in an overall deal worth just under $60 million (AUD) . Nice coin !

Javier Hernandez ('Chicharito') could end up at the Gunners (according to the 'Mirror' online...)

Gunners win 2 - 0 at Anfield . Liverpool dominated for a fair portion of the game but couldn't convert . Podolski scored a nice opening goal for Arsenal .

Happy for my Hammers to get Andy Carroll on loan for the season . On the surface of things , it did seem an odd decision by Liverpool to let him go . He helped West Ham win against Fulham although he did strain a hamstring late in the game . Lofty heights for the Hammers - currently 6th !

just wanted to say...good to see the news this week with the Establishment finally admitting they covered up the real story of Hillsborough, and not only that but made up outright lies about Liverpool supporters just so the Police wouldn't be blamed for their incompetence.

Chelsea , Man City and Liverpool all held to away draws . Gunners and Man Utd both had convincing wins and my Hammers held on for a draw at Norwich .

Chance for Spurs tonight to get their first win (away to Reading at 1.00 AM)

Damn we need a striker or two......we better go out in Jan and make some moves...we dominate possession but can't put it in

This weekend's games ...

We've got a few terrific match-ups . In the early game on Sunday , Liverpool host Manchester United . Later on that day the Gunners venture to Manchester City in another cracker . Also on Sunday , we've got a London derby with Tottenham at home to Queens Park Rangers .

Because of Champion's League and Europa League committments , most of the big guns will play a lot of Sunday games .

Matches this weekend ...

The Gunners hosting Chelsea kicks things off in a classic London derby (on at a fan friendly time as well) . Everton and West Brom have a chance to stay in the top 4 . Man City , Liverpool and Newcastle are all playing away from home and won't want to drop points .

Manchester Utd host Tottenham in another excellent match-up and we finish things off on Tuesday morning (5.00 AM) when the Hammers are at home to QPR in another London derby .

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
