Magner Omitted or injured?

Had a feeling I saw him at a specialist shoulder surgeon this morning.

interesting..... neeld has decided not to give petterd any more chances.

he'll have plenty of time to chill at surfers beach next year...

I've always wondered what was poking out the sides of his footy jumper. Now I know.

No forward line again, for God's sake you don't just draft a key forward(Cook), and a key forward/ruck (Fitzpatrick) for nothing! WHAT THE HELL!

Leigh Brown said that Fitz and Cook aren't ready for AFL yet due to not being able to run out an entire game (injured during the year etc). Yes no forward line sucks but this year was a write off since round one so there is no point putting the lambs to slaughter for the sake of getting games into them. Maybe against GWS and Gold Coast.

Missed plenty of pre-season and matches through injuries etc. They're not fit enough to be considered.

we're drafting !!! *wink*

There fit to play VFL but not AFL and still no Gysberts

Cook has been playing football every week for 6 weeks but is not fit to play in a game were half his team mates are also not fit what a load of SH&*.

If you cant get games with this MFC list your in big trouble.

We used pick 12 in the national draft almost 2 years ago and still has not played a game.

Well done MFC.

Bailey gave blokes games that hadn't earnt them for 3 1/2 years. All in the inane belief that "getting game into them" was all that was required.

Thats why Watts coasted for 3 years.

Get the little bastards hungry.

Would rather see Gysberts instead of Moloney. Early change for the next game.

and the sub will be ?

Gysberts and Cook might well say let's try another club if Neeld keeps doing this.

Gysberts is in my best 22 at our club even with a leg missing this year.

Cook has been sitting on the side for 2 years training his bum off and still will not get given a go when we have players like Garland playing forward.

We really have not one forward to kick to and this Kid cant get a game.

Give us members something to look forward to FFS we are crap.

I hardly think a rake forward who isn't ready is something to look forward to.

Moloney - 6 games to see whether he is up to earning a new contract or being traded. He's had the wake up call now he needs to respond.

Really?I think it's better then nothing.

Cook is way under weight and struggles to run out the second half of a Casey game, so I can't exactly see him running amuck in the AFL.

Cook is nowhere near AFL ready,he can't dominate VFL defenders yet.

He'd get mauled against AFL defenders that would run off him all day and he doesn't have the tank to go with them.

He's not a Cameron/Patton that is good enough to play straight away, maybe he'll never be good enough.

Cook was a wasted pick. Need to face facts. Gysberts questionable too.

my understanding is Cook was taken as a bit of a project player....obviously still very much a project in progress

Morton won't be playing at all this weekend. He's been spotted heading to Splendour In The Grass:

top-30-questionable-festival-attendees-a-gallery_45057_g.jpg

That might explain his consistent underperforming ...

Is that him at the bottom, third from right?

Reckon Couch should have stayed in, made a few errors but thats pretty normal in this team.....

All of those crying out for Couch to get a game saw that he was not good enough yet.

We all need to just shut up about our underperforming PLAYERS and get behind the TEAM.

We dont know any better than the paid staff so we should SUPPORT the team on the park.

We may surprise ourselves with a little bit of optomism.

I'm hoping we can snatch this one for Brad Green-a top clubman and stalwart for us over the years.

Negativity is just too easy-lets make some noise.

It would be good to stuff Norths season.

Wankers...

Nice one mate.

No good pointing our frustrations at ourselves.

I'm a big believer in knocking over other peoples sandcastles when you are feeling sh!t about yourself.

Hope we can de-rail a few this year to end the season on a high.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
