Brendon Goddard

I havn't heard much talk about this guy.

He is a FA at the end of the year and I was interested to see if people think he would be worth chasing?

Would add class, spread and work ethic to our side. Could be a big help to the younger guys.

Provided Clark's foot comes up OK, and I guess it will be a while before anything definite is known, then Goddard would probably offer us more options then would Cloke. He would be a huge pick up!

I liked the idea a few months ago, but have cooled since.

We should focus our energies on the draft: building a strong, two-tiered squad of talented youngsters (Trengove / Watts / Gysberts et al & the 2012 class).

Stating to slide slowly in his workrate & hurt factor. Passe'.

I'd rather Boak @ age 23ish.

Yup would rather concentrate on getting the Mids right, but...... as some of the older players are soon to drop off (prob very soon) we do need a few generals around the place if we could get him without going out on a limb, then do it. If the saints have a bad finish to the season then he might be tempted. Having Mission at the dees may help.

According to Brad Hardie, Cloke has now been offered 7 years by the dees. Didn't Mark Robinson say that Cloke would be signed at Collingwood by last Friday????? I'm thinking the Cloke saga may be far from over

If we offered him 7 years our board and management would be totally incompetent and Brad Hardie would be less relevant than I thought.

What give up pick 3 or 4 for him, no way. And 13 (kennedy) could end up a young anything, even a young Shayne Crawford type.

Don't want any expensive soon to be past its. I don't mind if we take a mature player with a 5th Rnd pick & $$$.

Not for me. He's been in the system now for a decade, is late 20's and has played his best footy.

struggles to shake a tag

No. Goddard's output is on the wane yet he's still going to command huge coin from some club. It shouldn't be us.

I'd offer a more modest two year deal to Chappy if the Cats only offer him one.

Yet he'd probably be one of our best players...

Would be great for our culture, toughness, and on-field spirit IMO.

Goddard's a free agent.

No for me.

Very good player but don't think he's the midfield general that we're after. Lenny Hayes leads the way down there at Seaford (still sounds weird saying that).

I'd prefer Boak. Think he's more capable of leading the midfield.

Exactly i wouldn't be paying lots of coin for Goddard, he isn't overly that quick and tends to fade out of games ( although he is a good user of the pill we need both speed and skill) . Would Rather we pay for a Cloke Boak Caddy or Beams

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

Once again inaccuracy and inefficiency going inside 50 rears it's ugly head as the Demons suffered their second loss on the trot and their fourth loss in five games as they go down to the Pies by 38 points on Kings Birthday at the MCG.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag
