What I'm saying is why waste our time to bring injured players back for 2-3 games at the end of the year, unless they are fighting for survival on our list it is pointless. Especially Jamar, if he is out for 4-5 make it 7, he is such an important member to our team, give him a longer time off to get his body 100%.

it's not pointless though, there IS a benefit: winning games... a tonic this club needs like a diabetic needs insulin.

He doesn't think its worth busting there chops through fitness tests and such for just a game or 2.

What kind of attitude is that though. "Russian we know you're right to go but hey we're no chance so here's your match payments and go have yourself a nice extra couple of weeks holiday".

WTF??

We have won 2 games all year, we are in a losing season, stuff 2012 we need to be planning for 2013 an the most important part of getting ready for 2013 is have a large percentage of our players complete a full pre-season.

I see benefits both ways, but really 2013 has to be the focus, whilst also giving some on the edge a run for 7 weeks may have benefits in them not being fearful of going straight out and may show Neeld something when he looks towards trade and end of year cull.

The most recent scenario we have is Meth Coast from 2010, they put the cue in the rack and got their players fit and had long steady pre seasons to work on their game plan and build elite fitness. Whilst I am fully aware we don't have the Cox's, Kerr's, Glass's & Lecras, there is nothing to say we wont pick up and equivalant to Gaff in the draft and one of our 4th year players doesn't step up like Shuey.

Whilst I don't think our list is capable of doing what the Eagles did in 2011 as we don't currently have their A graders, a good pre season has to be the priority, our best 22 and limited injuries for 2013 will see dramatic improvement

2012 is the 2013 pre-season. If the players are fit, they should play. It's as much about learning the game plan as anything else. Best way to learn it is to play it so it becomes instinctive.

This year has been pretty much an 18 month long pre-season with 22 practice matches

MFC hasn't cared to much about winning/losing and have been more focused on teaching the players defensive structures and working on their fitness base.

I would rather train the Russian into the ground and not play him and tell him 'Russian, we know your right to go but we rather [censored] you now and pass your match payments to Cook, Gysberts and Fitzpatrick who need a run late in the season'. Build up that tank big feller coz you got a big 3 years ahead of you'

The last 5 years we have had woeful pre-seasons that have carried on to the season proper. Momentum is huge n football and we should be aiming for the mother of all pre-seasons. According to Misson and others we have been woefully unfit and largely unable to play Neelds game plan for more than a few quarters here and there.

Last year we had a false dawn with a win over Coll in the pre season but the rest were shockers. We want momentum and we want wins. The planning starts now. This season is stuffed.

as opposed to the laid-back, take-it-easy preseason that every other club claims they are preparing for every season

Yep take it easy, you know, have a few drinks, go for a cruise. Maybe have a crash into a mini cooper dealer. That type of stuff.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
