With the emergence of Tom McDonald, and the excellent form of Mitch Clarke and Jeremy Howe this year, next season should see some rapid improvement.

With the likes of Jurrah and Gawn returning from injury, and the addition of Jack Viney.

We also have 3 excellent picks to trade for another experienced body or some more good young talent.

Just have to continue to play with intensity and spirit for the remainder of this year, it looks pretty good, after all the doom and gloom earlier on this year.

Keep it up boys!

The MFC has made me become a realist. I only believe what I see when I see it. Don't get me wrong I like what I see from a fair few lads but as I said I'll truly believe when I see.

I've said for 3 years we will threaten the premiership in 2014, even dreamt it, but we have a long way to go!! I know what we are capable of!!

HG I think this is the reality bit

Agree with you 100%. Earlier this year I was really shaking my head, wondering what was going on but I think we have turned the corner. Our games aren't perfect and we still aren't doing any where near enough to beat most teams, let alone the good ones, but I've seen glimpses and I think we will get there. Mark Neeld is the man and I have full faith in him to take us ahead, albeit one step at a time. After going to one of the forums the club is running (and cudos to them for doing that) I was so impressed with what he had to say and what he is doing. I feel like we are finally on the right track and its exciting, but still a bit frustrating!! Good times to come Dees fans!!

How sweet would it be to do the Lions on the weekend. This place is going to go off. We are about where I was hoping we'd be before the season started. I hoped to see evidence of a game plan on the field some of the players improving and I thought 1 to 2 wins by the end of round 1a, plus a solid win over GWS. I'm seeing all that now although I it wasn't looking too good after the Swans game. This weekend will say a lot about the rest of the season but I'm expecting to see the team improve considerably as they get on top of the game plan and start to be freed up to play more creative footy. I hope to see Blease, Strauss and Tappy as permanent fixtures for the rest of the season. Perhaps a few games later from Cook where he kicks a few bags full.

Is this against the same Brisbane team that beat WCE at the Gabba a fortnight ago? The same team that pumped the Doggies at Etibad?

Yes it would be sweet, but rather unlikely.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
