Sidebottom & Beams.

Lets get these two into a Dee's jumper!

Pass on Travis Cloke.

Would $600K a piece get them over?

Why do you think we are pushing Cloke's pay up?

No doubt in my mind that we are trying to squeeze Collingwood's salary cap so we can get one of their OOC midfielders.

Posted

I said in the Get Cloke thread that I think we're only pretending to go after Cloke to up his cash and force out someone like a Beams or Sidebottom with salary cap pressure.

Still think that's the case.

Would take Goldsack too.

We could of already had both on our list.

Sidearse is a star - Lets hope Jack Watts gets to similiar heights soon.

Beams is the one that hurts

He was taken at selection 29 in the same draft.

We chose Blease selection 17 (That one might just still work out) & Strauss selection 19 in front of him.

& amazingly selection 18 right in the middle of those 2 selections, no other then Luke Shuey.

So add Beams, Sidebottom & Luke Shuey into our midfield & what do you Know? Exactly what we are all screaming out for!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, however we had our chance to be in a much different position now, with a star studded midfield.

Posted

Neither are free agents and we would have to trade draft picks. We are better off going for Cloke.

And what, busting our salary cap for another forward when our most pressing need is a midfield?

I want midfielders. I want millions of top quality midfielders. I want so many good midfielders they get disgruntled at their lack of opportunities and want to leave.

What I don't want is Moloney kicking the ball to Cloke.

Thanks.

That sounds like a cut line from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

I love the Dees,

I love the damn Dees.

I want them to lock the ball up in the pocket

Just give them a rocket

Give it to them

Now!

I want a side filled with brilliant midfielders.

Ten thousand tons of hard ball.

And if they don't look like buff bodybuilders

I'm going to scream!

Pick 4, 13 & one of Morton or Bate.

I was going to put up Ricky Petterd but do think he is a required player. If he cant break into the side and string together 5+ games for the remainder of the season though, I can see him put up for trade at seasons end. Should come in for Green at some stage. But does have his work cut out if a Cook or Sheahan overtake him.

Morton, Davey, Bate and Green would be very lucky to still be a Demon next season. I was going too add Sylvia & Moloney, but I am inclined too keep.

Honestly think if we can get them to sign Cloke for 800K over 5 we will literally double whatever they offer Sidebottom, they will be hoping to pay him 300K i would imagine as he is still only 21......and they need to manage numbers alot more, maybe going upto 500K in a 3rd year ect. I would be pretty happy to pay 500-600K for Sidebottom, only thing is it would take pick 5 or so, still probably worth it

Pick 12 and Sylvia?

And what would you offer after they stopped laughing hysterically at you?

One of our other gems like Davey, Moloney or Sylvia?

Posted

Yeah, they might take Sylvia, that's about it from our older players. Maybe they would want to take Dunn off our hands?

Old Dunny-brush was alright today I thought.

Yeah he was when he came on and has worked as the sub a couple of times, he's just one of our perennial "let's give one of our under-performers to another club for one of their guns" that I thought deserved to get a gig in the carousel with Bate, Davey, Morton etc It amazes me that people think we can offer a player we don't want because we think they're not good enough for us while we are a bottom side and a top side will take them off our hands. It's not the old days where you can pull the wool over opposition eyes, millions of dollars go into this nowadays. You want to get, you gotta be prepared to give.

Well!

The Bulldogs were prepared to take Bate with Pick 30ish. And I'm sure Morton would have interest elsewhere because he has age on his side and stands over 190cm. Whether it's pick 30 or 54 another club would take him.

Simon Buckley found a new home at the Pie's! Pick 85. He rates well behind Bate & Morton. And hey! He is playing senior footy with the side on top of the ladder.

There is no pulling wool over anyones eyes! Pick 4,13 are great picks in this draft. A Bate or Morton are two players who can play senior footy straight away if need be. Both will be at new clubs next year and playing senior footy!

Before the game I wanted Cloke and would of been happy to give up all the coin to get him. After the game I know we have the key forward and we don't the midfield to give Mitch some silver service. Get Someone Melbourne! A better Midfield will help turn Mitch into a Coleman Medalist.

can we give them all three

The player I really want is Tyson Goldsack. I really rate that guy,

Beat me to it Chook, I think they made a big mistake last year not playing him in the GF. Very versatile and hard at it player who can kick, would really take to the responsability I think.

Just to throw the cat amongst the pigeons - Cloke snr (david - Travis' manager/dad) was sitting amongst the all powerful Melbourne coterie group yesterday, looking in from afar, I'd say we are serious with our offer - and in the ball park. Make of it what you will.
