The posters on this site are a little less personal and generally younger. With Ology I found that most threads finished up in a fight and most of the time it was "score settling" and had nothing to do with the topic.

I post here and don't go to bed with a headache.

I'll have to try harder in future... :P

A dozen?

Yep.

I sponsor a basketball team, and they seem to enjoy the after match entertainment

I dont get back there much now, although I was a screaming mess in my folks house for the essedon win. A full bottle of Johnny Double Black, and 2 Zantac got me through the nerves.

I'm working in the Solomon Islands, on a 2 week on/off roster, and just bought myself a house in the Philippines. (near Abu Sayef country in southern Mindanao) Nothing better than relaxing a my Kubo, with a dozen filipinas, while necking a few litres of cold Red Horse.

Unlikely that I will be back for a full break, until August, or even September. Will let you know if Ding and I are about.

faulty.

And to all on here, if 'Ology folded, you would certainly pick up a few quality posters. There are a few who have great training info, and very good opinions on matters football.

Even the self-centered jerkoffs like TGR are actually good reading occasionally, if you can put the "look at me" to the side, and read the info itself.

I would hope the site gets up and going, in a new format soon, because without new members, it is doomed, as the site nutters just wont let things go and keep to a topic, without slagging off and getting aggressive.

will be cruising through the Philippines in 2 weeks...The Cold weather and i do not get along!!!

Between this site, work, life, family, etc., I really don't know how you guys find time to read Ology, Big Footy or anywhere else. The only other site I get to look at is White Maggot occasionally, and that's because they post new stories only weekly (or so it seems).

Either I'm a slow reader, or there's a new level of footy tragic that I haven't appreciated until now.

This is not a put-down, I'm just jealous of the competency and time capacity some of you have.

I'm writing for BigFooty News and use it as a touch-base point; admittedly I'm at uni still so much more spare time.

I don't think this thread called for a peer evaluation.

But if you have a cynical itch to scratch, then fine - go [censored] on your fellow Demons' supporter if it makes you feel better.

I occasionally flick the channel over there for some yucks. Bluey is good value but honestly can't tell sometimes if he's taking the pish. Rivvo's a good read, Dee_Flower is the site's resident arch-pessimist and TGR their sanctimonious know-it-all.

Maybe they'll all gravitate over here now. Should be interesting. Like picking up a dozen or so quality players from a dying club's list.

But would they get a game here in a metaphorical top 4 side?

What? The Brisbane Bears?

too true. I wasn't aware there was an us and them these days. Some of the blokes hanging poo in here probably don't realise 'Ology was once the main MFC forum and its only due to some (real life) sad circumstances that theres no one at the wheel.

Being good at writing posts on a football forum has SFA to do with the site you're writing on, but some seem to think its a some sort of cyber space Bikie Wars where you're posting your colours to a mast.

Stakka/Curry and Beer clearly the Jock Ross of the show.

Hey, given the way some of the posters on here go at our payers, is it really any wonder that they would take pleasure in putting the boot into what they probably consider a "rival" Demons forum... anyone know how Tim is faring by the way... I rarely get on to 'ology these days.

Chook, you've got to be kidding don't you? "These days?!" As if there's never been a "Demonland are a bunch of pimply teenage kids with rose coloured glasses; I'd never dream of posting there" attitude from most of the fogies on 'ology. I say this as a member who has been active on both sites (and was active on 'ology more than 'land in its glory years as I believed its intelligence-to-nuff-nuff ratio was better). And frankly, I can't blame those who weren't around a few years ago from seeing 'ology the way they see it - watching Dee_Flower, IRW and co do the rounds is mind numbing stuff.

By the way, most who have been around a long time don't do the "us and them" thing and (now with admin hat on) it has never been condoned by admin. It's been my personal view and is shared by Jack and Andy that we're sister sites, not rival sites. But let's not pretend the mud slinging has only ever happened from one side of the fence.

Edit: I've just read through the thread again and I'm not even sure who you and Deers even think is hanging that much poo anyway. I've read much, much worse on both sites in the past!

Here we go again

I would wager a bet that I am not the only long term 'Ology poster, who looks at that site first, because its my "home site", then goes to 'Land, because I can get much more info from that site, due to weight of numbers, and the presence of some very thoughtful, and seemingly in-the -know posters.

Both sites have their share of bone heads, and show ponys, but equally, both sites are unmissable for the fanatic Dees supporter.

Like I said before, if 'Ology dies, you might pick up some fantastic, knowledgeable posters, and maybe some nuffers, but 'Land would certainly be better off.

Personnaly, Dee Flower is undeniably negative, but also mostly accurate. Same with Bluey, on a smaller scale. Both are often good reading, as long as you lick the salt prior.

you should appreciate the contributions of those who actually see the football club play matches in person - and I'm talking about the Demons, not the Eagles

It's not "here we go again", you haven't said anything there that I disagree with or challenged.

Like I said faultydet, I've been active on both sites and once was active more on 'ology than 'land despite my title on this site. I still read 'ology regularly and post occasionally - I may not be that recognisable because I've never been a particularly opinionated person, so my views don't stand out much, but I do consider both sites to be home. "Long term 'ology" poster includes me as well.

I know I sounded like a bit evangelistic and one-sided in my last post - that was unintentional, but I just find it amazing that someone who has been around as long and is as switched on as Chook in Perth could be surprised that some people hang it on the other site; this has been happening forever on both sites. It's not just 'land members who are guilty. That's all I took exception to.

Fair enough.

I had a read again, and wondered what I complained about.

Its normal to get defensive about your home site, especially when you see it withering before your eyes.

Chook is one of the more emotional posters on 'Ology, but through weight of posts, carries additional clout. I dont have a problem with that.

GSmith, Rivvo, etc, are compulsory reading, even when I dont agree. (rare)

GOTO, is magnificent, and always worth a read. as is Casey, although he./she is available on both sites.

Its a shame Tim wont hand the reigns to someone else. Biffinator aside, BigFooty just doesnt do it for me. Not sure why, as it is normally a good read. *shrugs*

Haha, Bikie Wars, I dare say that there have been more frightening battles on these sites than anything on that movie length beer commercial with [censored].

I agree with Nasher, in fact Demonology has been a lot more nasty towards the posters on this site than vice versa. And I say that with a massive Demonology logo airbrushed onto my chopper's "tins".

It's alright to slag off an individual poster until they quit posting, but god forbid a bit of generalising mud slinging comes over the fence.

A tad precious with a pinch of hypocrisy.

Let's ride out!

I joined Demonology in 2004 and in the first couple of years I had the sort of fun posting that has yet to be replicated. It was challenging and thought provoking. Even the chat room gave me some laughs. I haven't bothered for years, other than the odd cameo, but I have fond memories and would never criticise the site..

I enjoyed posting on Ology but in the end I just got sick of the crap you had to go through every time you did. As I said there were too many just waiting to score points and get back at someone over a matter that may have arisen in another thread months before.

It is a shame as some of the posters that used to post regularly just don't bother any more and haven't gravitated over here.

All,

I have hopefully arranged some software changes at Demonology. At the moment, being a long weekend, I don't know if the current situation is a work in progress or a fault. I hope to find out when people get back to work this week.
