The only player out there tonight without a brain is travis johnstone. Byron is being cruelly targeted by the umps. Agree 100% about Rivers, I wouldn't say Bell is without a brain either though as of late in defence. Sylvia is trying hard. Come on Melbourne!!

Agreed mate. Why would Melbourne select a player like Weetra then? Is weetra not a running, crumbing type of player? Could the Dees have seen more in Weetra than Alwyn Davey? I don't know enough of Weetra to judge, nor have i seen him play. I'm quite sure Alwyn trained with the Dees for more than one Pre Season by the way. Not only that, but wasn't be being monitered by our recruiting staff when he was with his previous club for 2 seasons? He must have showed SOMETHING over this time.

Was a worthwhile exercise making the trip to Geelong. Jones was definitely best on ground for Melbourne along with Travis Johnstone. Davey was not playing a forward role, (except for 10 mins) he was playing a half back flank role so it's all good. Just experimenting but a few more possessions would be handy at this stage.
