Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Garland a forward, Watts a backman and Grimes a midfielder?

Watts forward took 2 Collingwood defenders in his first match when we drew I think????

He has improved and represents a threat wherever he plays.

The switching of attacker/defender is an option that is handy to have to take the initiative as a coach at the least it may rattle the cage of the pies and make them lose concentration on their game

It will depend on the structure of the rest of the team

we may have been lucky that essendon didnt score goals in 1st q but we now know the cattle are capable perhaps a winning mentality will give more confidence.

The squad may begin to look better when some of our young bodies muscle up

From the tV last week it appeared we had a more muscular appearnce in the team Sylvia Moloney Chapman Magnar Sellar Clarke Jamar Even Green were the mature bodies that allowed the slighter athletes to survive. A lot will depend on how their bodies react again this week

I am confident taht the coaching team will be aware of the conditioning needed and will be aware of the skills that are available to them.

Triple yes. Grimes especially. We are in desperate need of some ferocity and skills with defensive pressure combined in the midfield. If you watch Grimes closely he very rarely gets beaten one on one. (Well except round 1 when Redden seemed to be able to mark a ball with any body part available)

I think with Grimes it's purely a matter of fitness. Whenever he's fit enough to run out the full game in the centre, that's where he plays. Trengove too, he's not quite there yet, but I thought he was better with more time on the ball.

Garland & Watts just give us more options. Garland gives defensive pressure & marking power inside f50. Jack gives more creativity out of defence. One thing a coach needs is to have extra options when things aren't going well, that might swing the game back in our favour.

Garland is like the Jack of Spades. Handy, but you don't want to be reliant on it because it's beatable.

Watts is the ace in the hole, but the other one is Col Sylvia. He's being asked to play defensive forward roles, but his pack-busting was on show with that 4th-quarter goal.

Picture it. Nicho and Blease off half-back, Sylvia as a defensive forward initially. However, those two begin to tire and Sylvia is rotated to use his run and carry off half-back, demolishing sides with brute force instead.

If he stays, if he puts in, he could be a hell of a multirole through the forward line and midfield.

...yes, I am sure we would all like to see that, and have been teased by him for such a long time that few will be able to maintain the patience and faith. The club could die if they were to depend on him fulfilling his potential, sadly. Edited by monoccular

Frawley's likely re-inclusion this week suggests Garlo will remain forward. It was overkill having Garland, Frawley. Watts, Rivers and McDonald all in the back 6 anyway. Taking 1 tall out, albeit, unexpectedly with Frawls missing actually presents a much more balanced side. Don't underestimate the work Nicholson and Blease have done starting in the back half and pressing forward. Their pace and Watts class has directly impacted I50 counts the last 2 weeks for mine.

If Frawley is back we could also toy with bringing Tom Mac forward as well..?

So back six of Chip, Watts, Riv, Nicho, Blease and...?

Think TMc should stay back, grow into his role. He's been doing really well, but Judy is a 65-gamer while TMc is in his first playing season.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
