Neeld takes a stand

He's just not the same build as those guys and never will, he won't crash packs but he will be bigger and stronger and make an impact. His skill and ability to make good decisions is what will make him as a footballer.

By the way Cloke did win a Copeland (CollingwoodB&F) as a 20yo in 2007.

We will see how how much jack really wants to play soon enough. The excuses are beginning to wear thin. Edited by why you little

On side note, im thinking about Saturday and im worried. Tell Moloney he is not thinking about a zero possession game last yr. If he gets 10 or less than 15 possessions this year, it will be seen as a failure, or result of last year. If we lose by 100pts, it will be seen as a result of last yr. Any thing less than 10 goals will be seen as par. I get the sense that the club is on a hiding to nothing this week. If we are thrashed, the media will go crazy. If its an honourable loss, the media will leave us alone. If its a good loss or (god forbid) we win it, it will go down in club history (the win). Im not holding out for a win, but hope we get within 6 goals, at best.

This week is a week that could be the making of a club, or the continued culture of 47 yrs. Pls Dees, stand up!!!

Don't worry too much Gid. This is gonna be a last man standing arm wrestle...right to the final siren. The Cats will know they've been in a massive battle to the death....that's IF the Cats survive, and if they do i'd say about 4 goals max.

A break out "line in the sand" game for Neeld and most of the boys tomorrow and a paradigm shift for the Melbourne Footy Club.

We could also lose a few players at the tribunal. I'm prepared for a trip back to the 80's as far as the biffo goes for this one, i just hope they keep their eye on the footy after they stop brawling lol.

This game will be spoken about for many moons by Demonlanders, footy scribes/journalists and ex players ... as much as, if not more than 186.....for entirely different reasons.

Get ready for one all almighty battle Demonoids!

I agree he will never be like Cloke but could well 'do a Hawkins' hopefully well before the 2014 GF.

And I don't see, as you appear to imply, that Cloke and Hawkins are of similar build.

gidon. The club must stand up. There is no excuse tomorrow.

The MFC has to stand up like an army does.

Find a way.

I wish you hadn't trotted out your "no excuse tomorrow" line there WYL. I've heard it before, and nearly every time it seems to be the prelude to a flogging.

I want the boys to concentrate on thier roles, I don't think that going the biff on blokes like Bartel and Chapman would be that effective, at the same time i expect that the boys will look after each other.

I just want to see commitment, application and a small helping of composure wouldn't hurt. Lets not live in a fantasy.

Dees by 8 points.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
