Ed gets his wish.

COLLINGWOOD has warned Melbourne there will be financial ramifications if the Demons poach one of the Pies' recruiting figureheads.

Magpies president Eddie McGuire said Melbourne's continued raid on Collingwood staff could cost Melbourne prized sponsorship money, AFL funding, and potential future home Queen's Birthday games.

The Demons have hosted every Queen's Birthday clash against the Pies at the MCG since 1999.

But McGuire said that charitable offering was now under threat after the Herald Sun yesterday revealed the Dees wanted to nab the Pies' national recruiting assistant Jason Taylor.

The respected talent spotter is contracted at Westpac Centre for one more season but has been earmarked as the Demons national recruiting manager.

Taylor would bring the number of ex-Pies at Melbourne to four since last September.

For pinching another staff member, McGuire said he would happily try to hit Melbourne hard in the hip pocket.

"I'll give Melbourne a nice heads-up - keep going after my players and I'll knock off all your sponsors," he said on Triple M.

Lol, so he hacked that dicks facebook and posted those remarks did he?

Seems there are more conspiracy theorists here than um at a place where there are a lot of conspiracy theorists.

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but:

I still dislike the guy but Ed is fantastic for the game, and the worst his prior comments have done is to stoke a rivalry between our clubs.

If he's telling everyone to pass the hat around thats fine by me, as long as he doesn't think we owe him anything.

I don't care who you barrack for, unless your a real peice of work, you would hate to see what our club has been going through recently.

A fantastic backtrack & public relations exercise.

Agree with you there mate. I'll take any bit of good news at the moment though.

As a side its been great how the club has dealt with everything, Mclardy definately has some ticker.

Still wish he would [censored] off. We don't want his help.

Benno I don't want his help either but if he helps galvanize support from the footy fraternity then so be it.

IMO, he's the type who'll be your freind, as long as We let Him Be the King of the Castle.

That's rubbish.

Neither he nor any other club will do anything to help us.

It's all PR bull$#@t and because Eddie felt his name hadn't been mentioned for a while.

Agree. Did Eddie start the ball rolling, how much is he sending across?

The threat of losing sponsors in exchange for picking up a recruiter who won't waste our picks is a damn fair trade for us.

We should go after the Collingwood recruiters NOW - Ed can't "knock off" our sponsors if we don't have any anymore!

And while we're at it, we should go after Brian Cook.

Throw anything & everything at getting him.

Not a crazy idea, his job at the cattery is complete and this would be a massive challenge, which IMO may appeal to him

It had crossed my mind whether this "member of the AFL fraternity" might have done some "misconstruing" recently, as a result of a certain interview.

Read the recent Herald Sun article on Cook -- he only left West Coast because it all started to go sour and he would never leave Geelong.

Agree

I suppose the 4 games he played for us would be not enough carrot

This Jason Taylor guy must be pretty good if Eddy comes out saying stuff like this. Go for him Dees.

By the way, has anyone been hearing rumors about troubles down at Pieland?

No they can't - Demonland is not particularly interested in being sued by the Herald Sun for publishing their private content. If you want to read the HS articles, you'll have to subscribe.

Just do a Google search on the articles headline and click the link - it should come up with the full article.

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.
