I noticed someone mentioned in another thread that the new player profiles pics are up on the clubs official site. More interesting to me than the new photos was the new text.

Not sure what every one else thinks but they are definitely very measured in terms of pumping up the players tyres. Probably fair, but much more negative than you'd expect on the Clubs website where you'd generally find some rosy write ups?

Seems like the frank, no nonsense attitude has even reached the PR guys? Perhaps Neeld reviewed each profile before publishing on the website?!

I don't know if it's been mentioned elsewhere but players weights have also been updated.

The two that I recognized were:

Watts 91kg down to 89kg.

Cook from 81kg up to 86kg I think.

Others here may be able to remember previous players weights to compare.

Cheers

Examples;

Jones - .. Even allowing for his bullocking style, he probably gives away too many free kicks but he is a vital, consistent player about to enter the prime of his career.

Jurrah -

The enigmatic match-winner suffered a slight fall from grace in 2011 when attention turned towards his defensive efforts. At times, particularly mid-season, he was caught in the trap of attempting the spectacular rather than doing the basics well but still kicked 40 goals and averages 2.3 goals a game. Dynamic, a great mark and a solid kick, he has pace, reads the game well and is a fan favourite. Although he needs to improve defensively and win more of his own ball, he is expected to be a beneficiary of Mitch Clark’s recruitment. Had off-season surgery to repair his injured wrist.

Jetta - Does not get enough of the ball or kick enough goals just yet, but has hardness and resilience.

Does this type of stuff need to be mentioned?! Its all true but why mention it on the club's player profile?

Are you serious?? I don't think I want to read anymore. It may be true but not really the place for the club to put it is it?

Wow. They are a pretty good assessment I reckon.

This seems to be a Neeld driven trend - honest appraisals, no nonsense, expectations clearly outlined.

I like it

Interesting, certainly in the past it's always been the positives put in there with practically no negatives except for little bits on form or injury.

Don't know if I like it, but I'm not against it.

It's about time, I hope it filters through to the player match reviews this year as last year they were a joke. Going by them I thought we hadn't lost a game all year, were sitting clear on top of the ladder and our players had little or no faults. I don't want the players to be bagged in a public forum but an honest appraisal would be good to see, not the rubbish we have been served up in the past.

I like it, reminds us all that a lot of our players are not world beaters.

Too many on Demonland / dees supporters over rate our players.

Until they prove other wise in 2012 we have an ordinary team that finished 12th last year

and lost to Geelong by 30 goals.

I look forward to them proving otherwise in 2012

The comments are directly lifted from the NAB Cup edition of the footy record. There are profiles on all players in the league in the record.

I like it. And i reckon that it is good that the perceived areas for improvement are made public as it gives the players nowhere to hide.

As has been said- a direct reflection of Neeld's approach to this list? And the new thought process of the FD in general.

Thumbs up from me...

God forbid we remind these people they are flawed mortals like the rest of us.

Hands up if you were beaten by 31 goals last year?

As members we were all beaten by that horrendous margin. I think we should play home games there... Just as a reverse psychology reason.

It looks like plagiarism to me.

Taken straight from the threads of Demonland.

For one they look like an honest appraisal, and I hope that the players read them as well as us.

At lease nobody will be under any illusions - warts and all sort of stuff, and not before time.

Those Casey VFL reports last year "...had a good game.." "...did a few good things..." etc Just awful and I stopped reading after a while

Well done coaching team.

Ifn the Club pages read like above, the one-on-one evaluations would be top-rating if video was sold on the Club website

Best thing I have seen to date.

* Constructive feedback to a tee.

Too harsh some say? Harden up.

Every player now knows their weakness's are on display to the general public and I'm sure it will

only contribute in motivatating them further in their quest to become the best players they can.

God damn Neeld and co. are a breath of fresh air.

I personally agree with the profiles, and like McQueen said, they pretty much sum up the thoughts of many on demonland, but what are the younger supporters suposed to think? Reading the profiles of their favourite players sounding like 2nd rate hacks?? I rememebr collecting AFL cards as a primary school student, cant imagine what i would have thougth if the profiles on the back of Garry Lyon's card read "Has been a great player for the Demons but these days struggles to get on the park through injury, needs to get his body right to have an impact again"

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
