Poor bloke twice in 2 years. Big year coming up in the gym! On the positive side it Gives the lad another year to fill out his 7 foot frame. Would think he would be training in the 2nd half of the year but wit all the big blokes we now have you would think he won't be risked by playing the last few games in Casey two's

The man is going to have impressive guns by the start of 2013! Really good opportunity to work on the strength side and get his fitness up next preseason.

poor bastard...hope he is able to get his body right. showed some good glimpses last year

Is ACL at this point really a season though? I mean I know he won't play as he won't have a preseason etc., but is the recovery time really, with 3 months til season start, a season-ender?

At his age, there is no point in taking unnecessary risks.

He's still a kid with a huge future. So no rushing him when we are still developing other kids.

We're not vying for a flag 2012. 2013 it is for him.

Gawn's mental battle will now be bigger than anything he'd have to overcome on the field. Two knee recos at 20yo. He should seek out Max Bailey for some advice.

Jake Spencer ... Your time is now.

My worst fears.

Good luck in the rehab Maxy.

Looks like jamar & martin to continue the ruck duties.

'tis a shocking thing. Hopefully he will return bigger, stronger and better. Now another rookie will need to be be elevated.

Sad to hear, I hope he's able to come back from this latest setback.

All the best Max.

Sheahan to be elevated is my tip, simply because that way if (god forbid) another ruck were to go down, we can throw Clark in the ruck and throw him thus not damaging our structure awfully...

We still have Jamar, Martin, Spencer, Fitzpatrick and Clark.

Yeah, I'm sure our first choice forward replacement would be the least developed forward on our list, a rookie at that.

Normally takes 12 months to recover from an ACL

Not Sheahan. Too young. I'd back Leigh Williams if they went one of the big men. Even so, I think it would more likely be Magner who gets the nod. He ticks all of the boxes for Neeld.

You have already validated that you guessed. Deal with it. But it is poor form to pump your own tyres on someelse's misfortune. Tacky indeed.

Fcuk you would know all about that wouldn't you. I certainly have not validated any of your tickets.

I made a statement on friday. You put the boots into it in your normal way.

I was right. And i most certainly wish Max a full recovery.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
