I think I heard that he had some 'attitude issues' last season: hopefully our new 'no prisoners' coaching panel will help him get his mindset right.

He is reputed to otherwise be the real deal.

Only been in the rehab group at this stage but will hopefully train with the forwards shortly.

i posted somewhere else that blease tweeted about training with the forwards..... he's another fast small whos had a bit of time in defence to hopefully get him aware of such things, and could do some damage up forward.

No one else is screaming out for the role. Using a medium forward in the role is never going to be a great plan.... no one has that freakishness of an Eddy Betts for instance.

Jones in particular gets treated like one of our flagging veterans (by me at times I'll admit)

I'll put my hand up and say I'm guilty of this. Compared to much of our list, Jones seems like he's been around forever. Part of that is that he's played so many games each season.

I wonder if we go back to the old style where a rover changed in the forward pocket -- Davey/ Blease/Jones changing in the forward pocket seems a realistic suggestion to me.

Jones is nowhere near agile enough to play as a small forward

Good chance to look at this with our list completed and training under way, to me we are starting to get more options and balance on our list.

If it is not HT we will be in deep pooh.

Over the next two years there are probably a dozen players on our list that have reached the put up or shut up time.

As usually next season will be very interesting

Indeed... but for some strange reason, I am feeling more optimistic this time around.

Hope fully we can build up the depth in our midfield, with the addition of Couch, Magner, Taggert, on top of Blease, Nicholson and Evans who we havnt seen alot of we may get the extra 2 or so players we really need. Even just the competition for spots will help it, rotating those who are in form ect...

Backs with Sellar

Rucks maybe with Clark, barley needs the depth though

Mids with Couch, Taggert, Tynan and Magner

Forwards with Clark, Sheehan and Williams

All areas have new talent and potential, good times

Off: Scully, Warnock, Maric, Wonnaeamirri, Newton, Campbell, McNamara, Johnston

will help to have a new gameplan, as well as a better list.

It's this group that will remain the concern moving forward. At least two A-grade stars have to emerge from that lot plus another three will have to take their game up two gears.

Unless the improvement in 2012 is dramatic, I can't see us making the eight with that group.

I think we can make the top 8 with the players we have got, just some of them need to get a little older, stronger and wiser

IMO Beamer, Trengove, Sylvia, McKenzie, Jones, Gysberts etc is a decent midfield.

DemonWA I am not sure why we should be less harsh on our players.

Here a few facts from 2011

- we had a loss ratio of 60%, 13 games lost

- 7 games were lost by 8 goals or more

- of those 7 games, 2 games by 9 goals, 1 by 10 goals and 1 game by 14 goals

- 1 game by 31 goals

By any measure we were pathetic in 2011.

So why excuse them?

for the majority of the year our players performed poorly.

2012 will prove if you are right but right now IMO we have an ordinary group

who have not proved they can be the equal of sides 5th to 12th.

I hope I am wrong but the eight is far from certain in 2012

IMO Beamer, Trengove, Sylvia, McKenzie, Jones, Gysberts etc is a decent midfield.

I am definitely in the camp that says we are not hard enough but I do think we have to cut them some slack. It's blindingly obvious at this pointthe players were unfit and being treated with kid gloves. I know they are a year older and can probably handle higher loads but if they haven't been trained the right way then maybe its not all their fault.

WTF were the administration doing??? How could they not see the training loads were vastly different to Collingwood who train next door???? I don't get it.

we lacked a game plan especially a clearance plan,

we lacked physical strength

We lacked cohesion and leadership

and the ongoing toxic undermining effect of the deceit and uncertainty of a certain recent #1draft pick should not be underestimated

All those glaring issues have been or are being addressed so there is at least cause for a little optimism.

With Neelds Clean slate, players will have to earn a game. Not just be given a game to put games into young bodies.

So a lot of these young AFL princess wannabes at the club who think they are the cream of the crop. Just suck it up and show us exactly what you are made of.

Short of finishing in the 8 anything else is unacceptable. If this is the case then Neeld & co. will have had a look at the team for a year, and then start to clear out the dead wood.

I'm tipping that may well happen, we will then bring in Jack Viney (1st rd. pick) then use the 2 compo picks plus other 2nd 3rd & 4th round. And upgrade the appropriate of this years Rookies onto the Primary list.

Being very broad shouldered I am open to criticism.

I agree

and yet with all this with 4 games to go in the season we where a chance to make the 8.

But we lost all 4 of them GT and the last game to the team that at that time was fighting for last place.

I agree with a number of posters our midfield looks to be the weakest link. We need to remember we already add another hard at high quality young midfielder next year and we have 2 first round picks that we can use either in the draft of at the trade table. I think we need some fast skilled ouside midfielders to complement want we already have.

Hang on boys how about we give the new coaching panel a go before we write the season off already... I reckon there are a lot of things to get excited about
