Thanks for the warning jayceebee31.

I'm truly shivering in my boots concerning the revelation about having Demetriou on my back.

Should I hire a bodyguard?

I would certainly visit a back specialist.

Fletcher Roberts - 3/6/93,195,84. Kicked 5 goals in the GF, missed a couple of sitters. Inside Football - "... an exciting player with a great football brain. He is a great decision maker, who hasn't had a preseason due to cricket commitments at Melbourne Grammar. Can play both ends in a Leigh Brown type role."

I guess some here may reject him on the basis of being a private school toff, regarding them all as soft.........like for example Campbell Brown, Dean Chiron.........

Posted

If he ends up in the AFL, I can't wait for the call from the crowd when he screws up.

I am an inveterate Daily Show fan, and anybody who is also will be unable to stop a certain Daily Show term slipping out.

Doesn't anyone else find the idea of having Demetriou on your back a bit, well.... creepy?

Additions to the Permission to Train list as of today:

• Essendon - Aaron Day (Woodville West Torrens)

• Melbourne - Leigh Williams (Norwood, EFL)

• Western Bulldogs - Matt Jones (Labrador)

I find it very interesting that 3 of the six are talls,it seems like we will take at least one tall if not two.And hope we can turn one of them into another Tom McDonald., whom, I believe will turn into an elite footballer.

Posted

I don't think we will add anymore to try out. Furthermore, I think of the six training, it is likely we will only pick maybe 2/3 of them.

Posted

would love to see us pick up sheehan, williams, crisp and nelson but doubt we will have our pick of all 4

if crisp and nelson fell through to us it would be brilliant but doubtful. sheehan and williams on the otherhand

should both be available to us

Posted

Hopefully we can pick up two outside midfielders who can run and carry, perhaps a clutterback and nelson. Then with the second two maybe taller players like sheehan. Not sure if L williams will be able to make the step from EFL to AFL?

Dont know if this is where it *should* be discussed but players from leafues such as the Ammo's could be really smart, or VFL, SANFL and WAFL...

In 2010 Isaac Smith started the year in Ballarat's BFL for Redan, went to North Ballarat, played less than 8 games, got drafted and was a great pick up who made an impact in his first year for the Hawks. Also we had Nicho from the Ammo's. Duigan from SANFL, we all know about Barlow, Stratton at the Hawks also, Pods quite a few coming through from the countries second tier comps nationally, when they are given genuine opportunity at an AFL club.

I also know alot do not make it, was more highlighting Nicho and Smith who came basically from 4-5th tier comps in 12 months to show they are exciting propects.

How appropriate that the Bulldogs have a player from Labrador training with them.

I didn't think that Labradors and Bulldogs were very compatible: but they did pick up an old boxer a couple of years back, and though he was near the end of his leash he did ok for them.

I wonder if Scuttlebutt really has the drive .....says "it would be fantastic to be in an AFL list even for a year", or maybe just being modest.

Let's hope he turns out the goods and is just bring modest.

With Mark Neeld wanting to keep his hand firmly on the tiller I wouldn't be surprised to see the majority of our rookie picks come from our permission to train list.

OF COURSE ITS MODESTY. i think almost any young male footy fan/player would be thinking the same thing... basically saying he'd appreciate even 1 year on a list, but would obviously love many more!

Fair comment and we seem to have the right mix with regards what we think we need to supplement the list. However do you agree with the types we have asked to train.

Wouldn't that be entirely dependent upon how well they scrub up "on the track"? I would hope that they have their eyes on alternative prospects... given his Collingwood background, I would think Couch is a monty to get a place, but as for the rest... who knows.

I'd like to see us draft a small forward prospect (not sure if we've got any of them on the PTT list?) and a ready-to-play mature mid or two (I think we're going to play a grinding game that will require plenty of soldiers). A speculative tall forward if there's one worth considering. The rookie draft can be a good place to look for ruckmen but I don't think we need any more, or tall backs or medium forwards.

Small forward we definitely lack and running outside mids. But definitely do not need any other budding ruck man - that would be an overkill and a waste IMO.

If Leigh Williams was the solid blond bloke training yesterday then he looks a chance and maybe your speculative tall forward. Very good build. Sam Blease is doing his training with the forwards and may well be the "small" forward you're after.

I didn't see Couch yesterday but that means little.

Williams (assuming he was the tall blond kid) looked very promising. Certainly a very good size and took one or two very strong marks. That said, it's hard to tell a whole lot from a training session!

In the transition drills Blease was swapping with Davey as the small forward. Davey did some very good pressure acts in this, which was reminiscent of his early days.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
