When you get older you don't have time for all the intrigue and things become a lot clearer, black is black and white is white. Bailey was going to get the sack and it was purely a timing issue, anyone that thinks otherwise is delusional.

How there could be any other issues in play is beyond me. The players were not performing and irrespective of other factors it was his job to make them perform; he simply couldn’t.

BB I was never a big fan, lots of comments from me on Demonland bemoaning his game plan etc.

Do you think he was hardly done by?

PS who was the last good coach who's team got beaten by 25+ goals?

Just as a matter of interest, how does everyone see a face to face with Bailey being orchestrated at the time?

From memory the media where already all over Stynes, Mclardy and the board members.

What would have happened if Stynes & co had rocked up at Bailey's joint? or if they all turned up at the G/bubble dome?

I would have thought that the phone call would have been the most practical and, from a certain point of view, sensitive way to break the news to Bailey at the time.

To do so face to face would have been an absolute media circus.

There was nothing to stop the VP or a Board member from having the basic decency of meeting with Bailey.

At first I thought the phone call was a bit of a poor way to handle it, but looking over the situation at the time I have to agree with you

The board meeting (and phone call) was late on a Sunday night

The press and Dean Bailey was aware of the meeting and possible outcome

Club had four choices to inform Bailey

[1] Face to face at his place. Manners would dictate a call first to get permission to come over. His family home on a Sunday evening would not be suitable.The call to check first would be a dead give away. Plus there was the media cicus. Scratch that idea.

[2] Face to Face on MFC territory. Again it was Sunday evening. It would require a phone call first. Again a dead give away. It would place Bailey at a greater inconvenience to be summoned. Scratch that idea.

[3] Wait till Bailey was at work next time. Press speculation/attention would be high. MFC would have to make some statement re the meeting even it was a stalling statement. Bailey would have to wait without any info then be sacked maybe onthe Monday (depending on his movements). Risky strategy. Scratch this idea

[4] Inform him as quick as possible via telehone by the most appropriate person before it became a media circus

I can see why option [4] was the best all-round option for all concerned

Sorry DC, this (option 3) was the only suitable option. We can't use "the media forced us" arguement. If they ask, we tell them nothing. Blind Freddy would've seen the writing on the wall, but there is still a process that should have taken place.

My concern about the past 12 months is about how we did something, then acknowledge tha twe probably should've dont it differently, ie Junior's tap-on-shoulder, Bailey's phone call. How many times are we going to get away with f**king somehting up that should be a simple process before it bites us on the arse good and proper? Perhaps things like 186 are results of this?

It wasn't just the media, Bailey was well aware there was an extraordinary board meeting discussing his future.

I think he would have wanted to know the outcome as soon as possible.

May not have been ideal but IMO was the best of a bad lot.

Both cases are about respect and the type of culture we are trying to create at the Club. We failed on both occasions, and we are treading a fine line in the amount of damage we could be/are doing.

My understanding is that Junior was told that he was on his last contract at the start of the year and that was made clear. During the year Junior played well and probably better than he or we thought so he expected he would get another year and he didn't.

Now who it was that told Junior I don't now but it appears that it may have been Bailey; irrespective of that and irrespective of the way he was told it turned out bad for the club.

The moral to the storey is there is no good way to sack someone.

No improvement old dee it's something they can't fix by the look of it so we just do what we can when we can. Thank you for asking anyway.
