2011 Player Review - # 44 Rohan Bail

Featured Replies

The young Demon utility's career was on a steeply upward curve until a knee injury struck him down before the mid point of the season.

He recovered to play again in the final match but we're looking for better things from him with an injury-free 2012.

Rohan was starting to become an important player for us before his season was, once again, stuffed by injury.  He's quick with excellent endurance and clean skills, and in my eyes his concentration and the defensive side of his game improved considerably over what we saw in 2010.

He performed some very good run-with roles before he was injured, and imo, this is probably where he'll end up playing most of his footy, but having said that, his versatility is perhaps his strongest suit.

If he can remain injury free, I think Rohan will be a better than average player for us, which would be an excellent result for a speccie pick drafted somewhere in the 60s.

I hope he conitinues his progress because I rate him as as high as any prospect we have (to steal a baseball term).

Aside from Trengove...

Love the run and boldness, and his kicking and tackling is good.

But the runnning is Forest Gump like...

Love this kid hard at it fast makes good decisions, skills are ok not great.

Most importantly though we seem light on for taggers and he looks a prospect with discipline.

His hard running, hard body and discipline should see him be a very good role player in a more rigidly structured team.

Like this kid. Hope he keeps his number too. No frills, runs and runs. Spreads well and can be accountable. Coach's dream player - will be one who does his job quietly under the radar (almost stealth like).

2010 seemed an unfortuanate false start to what promises to be an unglamourous but distinctly watchable and talented performance over many years. Theres a lot to like about Rohan :)

Must be one of the very few players to extract an almost united appraisal..lol Now that's something.

He not quite as good ( yet ) but reminds me of someome in his almost shy/humble but prolific work ethic/style.

Really wish this lad the best.

Missed more than we realised in 2011...

Without him Bartram is our "run with" player...

Fingers crossed he gets a injury free 2012!

I think he's better than just a "run with" player. I see him being more like Luke Ball. Works really hard but doesn't quite have the finishing polish of the most highly skilled. Would be in my starting 22 every week in an on ball (but not running with Luke Ball) role.

Love him. People seem to remember his endurance and tagging attributes- I remember his pinpoint passes and occasional shows of flashy plays. He can move this boy, has a few tricks.

How the hell did we get him at 70 or whatever it was? Good times. Pretty hot too!

Pick 64 iirc.

He was playing for the QLD U/18 team the same year a lot of players were drafted from QLD and I think he was overlooked because the recruiters were so focused on his teammates.

It's not often a mature-age player from the QAFL gets drafted.

Very happy to have him though.

Wasn't he the QAFL player of the year if memory serves me?

I hope he conitinues his progress because I rate him as as high as any prospect we have (to steal a baseball term).

Which part is stolen from baseball? "Prospect"?

I wouldn't have thought so.

That term is fairly common in all sports, I'd have thought.

Ha-ha, I remember best round 2 2010 in the last seconds. He should've kicked a point!

I think his injury and subsequent absence had a far greater effect on team balance than was realized or expected at the time.

I hope he has made a full recovery and can become a consistently influential player for us.

Can see him becoming a quiet achiever that slips under the guard of the opposition.

I bet not many opposition fans have heard of him.

Really like his pace, but his disposal needs a lot of work. I have him in my best 22 for next year.

I best remember the same game (Vs filth) but early 1st qtr. Bail ran massive distance to demand/take an over the top pass from Bate? and then run into an open goal.

An absolute game turner.

This guy is bone hard, has great endurance, glides over the ground in an unbelievable manner, and takes the game on.
