Which guernsey number for Mitch?

I'm liking the idea of him sticking with number 1 if Warnock is moved on.

Otherwise ... number 11 to mark the marquee signing of the Stynes presidency.

#1 He had it at Brisbane and can have it here. Time to put the curse to bed.

31 for those who otherwise will be chucking jumpers in the rubbish.

Give him #1. I think the club might give Viney Jnr #31 to try and restore some value to it. Todds #12 will be Sylvias for a while.

If he wants # 1 give it to him but my first thought like others here was # 31, make the statement you are forgotten and replaced pretty quickly plenty of supporters going around with that number on their jumpers.

For what he has done for the club # 11 to me is sacred and we either do a Port # 1, Tiges # 17 thing and give it to our captain or give it to the winner of our clubman award for the previous season

31 for those who otherwise will be chucking jumpers in the rubbish.

Haha, that's the only reason. I don't want him to be jinxed from the get-go!

Numero Uno for me. Come the end of next year, we'll mostly have him there in our eyes anyway far as I'm concerned.

Would Strawbs approve? That's the question ...

Nm 1. Then he and Nathan Jones can have lockers next to each other and discuss sleave tattoos. And he won't have to change his twitter handle.

#1 - Mitch Clark

#11 - Viney

#31 - Howe

I know this will upset a few but....

31 - has a history of players who chase the $$$$$$

No! Not 31. It's the RDB curse. Should be retired till we win our next flag.

Any kudos for the call? :)

Gawn should aspire to get jumper 11.

I would give Sam Blese 31.

Clark, well, he can have whatever free number he wants - which will most likely be number 1.

Bennel should have to change back to a high a high number as he was rubbish having said that would love to see #1 Howe #11 Mitch and blease #17, I no it's stupid but I hate bennel in 7 I love that number and haven't been able to enjoy it since Stevie Powell!!!!!

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
