Didn't take note of how the voting works, but Jones was nominated on AFL360 to be in the running for this week's Unsung Hero award.

I thought when Jones was in the forward 50 he was a great crumbing forward. Anticipated well and hit the packs at speed.

Not saying he should be a permanent crumbing forward but he just showed the value of a good crumbing forward, something we have missed for some time.

I think we'll see more of our experienced players in new roles soon enough as other young & also experienced mids come back through.

They'll also have to be given chances to gain experience in the Guts.

This guy should be captain IMO.Trengove has done nothing this year, lucky to be holding his spot.Grimes is just injury prone and should just concentrate on his game.

Wow.

From unwarranted criticism of Jones, to just plain ignorant criticism of our captains...

Trengove has virtually been not sighted this year.Grimes,as stated is injury prone. Therefore in the leadership group, the player that has consistently put it together has been Jones.Do you dispute this?

Jones & Clark would be so far I front in our B& F, it is a joke that the others are so far behind.Frawley is having another wretched year so far, Bartram has played his best game last week for the year.Garland has had a poor year so far IMO.

i also think Beyonce was the problem with Destiny's Child, Eddie was the weak link in Van Halen, John Lennon in the Beatles and Mark Knopfler in Dire Straits.

Totally agree.

Mick, sorry mate ,keef ,charlie and bill have chosen another singer. You sing all right , you look good ,you dance good ,you write the songs and run the business and all but we have to let you go.

Jones has consistently played well (should be leading the B&F at this stage) but it's just a plain ignorant and antiquated view to say the your best player is therefore your best leader, and should be your captain.

It's been covered ad nauseum on this forum, but you still haven't grasped the concept.

Trengove hasn't been our best, but you're overstating his poor performance.

And Grimes' injury history is wholly irrelevant.

Grimes & Trengove are co-captains, and that won't change for some time.

Get used to it.

It's a Leadership GROUP.

It will be the collective responsibility of all of these guys to support the Captains in their first year of what is obviously a tough and daunting gig. It's great to see Jonesy holding up his end thus far.

We supporters need to do the same.

I think the dees need to lock Nathan Jones away for a further 3 years. He's playing extremely well and each week he is improving. He might have another year left on his contract but i think it's time to act given his young age and signs of improving.

I enjoyed the article but it refers to jones being "in" the leadership group which, correct me if Im wrong, I thought he was demoted from? Which is a decision thats looking more and more absurd. That aside he's really emerged this year as a genuine leader at the dees and its great to see. Bring him back next year into the LG as VC.

So much love and respect for this guy.

10% talent - 90% desire to succeed.

He and McKenzie are superstars in my eyes, not because they are supremely talented, but because they will die trying to be better than their opponent.

10% talent is short-changing him a bit, isn't it?

He's good for almost 2 goals a game these days too, which is the hallmark of a gun midfielder.

1 goal a game i think 11 from 10 this year, which great for a midfielder, its every part of his game that is solid though, Goals, clearances, pressure acts, tackles I50's its ALL there

The 24 year old, 124 game veteran eh? So durable, and each year he turns up just that bit better than last year. His best footy is still ahead of him.

JM i remember a time on Demonland where quite a few people bagged Jones and rated him no more than an honest trier who would not become A grade. I'm with you on this one. If he continues his rate of improvement he could become as damaging as Swan, or at least close and certainly potential A grader. Certainly has the endurance and work ethic to be to be a top shelf mid.

The thing that i like most about Jones is how he has improved on his weakness, the most obvious one being his kicking which has improved out of sight (he has added distance and accuracy and now also kicks goals).

However i reckon the biggest and most importantt improvement has been with his decision making. His biggest weakness, IMO used to be that he often turned the ball over through poor choices (and sometimes poor kicking obviously). He rarely does that now and is much more creative with his ball use. One good example from Sats game was the kick to Garland in the square in the last quarter. Could have easily blazed away, didn't had to cut back in and put it perfectly to Garlo's advantage. Great stuff.

Now if he could only at least try and pretend to make an attempt to get the ball out when he gets buried at the bottom of the pack, umpires wouldn't have the excuse to ping him for a free kick!

Harsh call. From memory, he was about pick 14 in the national draft - not some low grade rookie. For instance, check out his goal last weekend against the Dons - that was more than mere desire. Pretty damn skilful IMO.

That said, I respect the sentiment - he does try his guts out for this club. I absolutely love the bloke.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
