Currently watching Waylen playing for Lower Plenty against Heidelberg in the NFL. Very athletic but hasn't done a whole lot but has a huge leap.

In Victoria? I thought he didn't want to move down here.

Yeah Vic. That's what I thought too, ended up with a few and kicked the match winning goal, guy can play!

My brother played for Ord River Magpies who won the flag in the EKFL in 2012 knocking out Waylen's Kurgungu team (no idea what the spelling was/is) in the semi final and played on him for a fair bit of the game.

Now the bro was a decent footballer, not exceptional, just a hard worker, played a fair bit of senior footy in the GVFL as a backman and played on some good forwards and usually held his own.

He said there was no way in hell anyone he has ever played with could match up on Waylen. His jump from a standing start was just incredible in his words. You would be next to him, next thing he was on your shoulders. He was just amazed watching him.

At one stage he had a set shot from the boundary. After confidently kicking the pill screamed out something like "get that so and so up ya" to no one in particular after thinking it was going through only for it to go through for a point. He just started laughing after it happened and had no concerns at all, just laughed.

Would be great if he did get fair dinkum and played somewhere like the NEAFL or the WAFL so we could all get a good look but I think he is a bit to laid back and enjoys the social life a little to much to make the big time.

Here's hoping however.

I would love us to grab this guy. Even if he's only a 50-50 shot at making it, that would be better than our usual strike rate with drafting and he has so much potential. Could fill the void Jurrah left.

If we can't get Waylen Manson, maybe we could get this Waylon?

He looks like he might be able to scare a few. Sauce Merrett might think twice before he tries to collect any of our blokes high again.

Have seen a bit of him at local level. I doubt he will ever adapt to living away from home and adapt to the afl lifestyle.

We've been following him for years now starting with his cameo season up in Darwin followed by a stint on The Recruit last year and finally, we can get to see him in the flesh if we get down to Casey Fields to watch the opening game of the VFL on Sunday week between the Casey Scorpions and Frankston Dolphins.

Waylen Manson signs with Frankston in VFL one year after The Recruit appearance

"there remains question marks over his work ethic and commitment."

Can he do much better than VFL WJ?

It's up to him. Let's see what he does with the Dolphins - it will certainly make entertaining watching because he's capable of doing some exciting things.

I've heard that Frankston have had massive changes to their list over the summer so it should be relatively easy for him to get a game in the first place.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
