With Ross Lyon staying at St. Kilda I reckon it leaves us with the following to chase.

Mick Malthouse

Dean Laidley

Rodney Eade

Mark Neeld

Scott Burns

Brenton Sanderson

Ken Hinkley

Alan Richardson

Peter Sumich

Leon Cameron

Neil Craig

Mark Williams (if available)

Fingers crossed we can land Malthouse, otherwise I'd be after either Laidley or Burns.

Any other options I haven't listed?

What's everyone's preference?

Edit: Added Williams & Craig.

I reckon we need to throw the kitchen sink and everything else at Bomber Thompson.

Now that would be a big fish.

Don't think anyone in the footy world would see that happening!

Mark Williams should be on that list. Despite his insanity and penchant for erratic and disruptive behaviour, I think he'll be looked at. Premiership coach with a modest list.

Didn't he rule himself out around the same time Paul Roos did?

He would surely give the fD a shake up.

And let's not kid ourselves. It can't get any worse? Can it?

Won a premiership at an under resourced club, not that long ago. I remember the tie noose interpretaton like it was yesterday lol!

But could we afford to keep him supplied with gourmet sangers on match day??!

Where's the Brian Royal option ?

surely a joke?

Find ourselves an interim coach for next year, having Mick signed and locked in for 2013. Mick could "advise" from the sidelines. But no Buckley-type arrangements where 2 coaches want/expect the one job. Heck, I'd do it for the year and happily give over to Mick. Seriously, benefit for someone like Todd would be an extra year's experience of coaching senior level, with the added bonus of being entrusted to begin developing Mick's plan.

Eddie might even get p***ed off and cut Mick loose early :)

Interesting report on 3AW from Gerard about "McClardy seen in Perth with Burns and Schwab seen with Craig" being a dynamic duo. Burns coach, Craig Snr Assistant. Fine by me....we get great sport science, elite sport credentials and a bloke that earnt every game, worked under malthouse and worsfold.

If Ross Lyon is truly gone, then I would be happy with that combination. Let's just get the right person or combination and let the club move forward.

How do you know Ross Lyon is staying at St.Kilda??

Until its announced, i very much doubt it

A good listing to look at.

Being realistic (and assuming Ross Lyon stays at St Kilda as you say) and of course IMO only:

MM is most likely not available

DL is an excellent match day coach, but overall not an option

Eade has been ruled out by Garry Lyon I believe

Neeld has good PR but is really just another assistant

Burns may be OK, I'm not sure

Sanderson has an excellent pedigree including two premierships

Hinkley's been around a while

Richardson - don't know anything

Sumich just an assistant

Cameron just an assistant

Craig a good mentor perhaps

Williams no way

Hence if MFC decides against an experienced coach, or can't get one, Sanderson is the quiet achiever of the group.

With Ross Lyon staying at St. Kilda I reckon it leaves us with the following to chase.

Dean Laidley

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
